I linked someone to clean up the hallway, not sparing the dead guard another glance as I hoisted Elena into my arms. She didn't protest.
Her legs wrapped around my waist, arms draped lazily over my shoulders, her breath hot against my neck. Still trembling, still needing.
I should've been fucking furious. She had kissed another man—right in front of me. And worse, she wasn't even fazed when I put a bullet in his skull.
But instead of guilt or fear, she only looked at me with hunger.
Something was wrong.
She wasn't just insatiable—she was possessed by whatever darkness was clawing at her insides.
And yet, despite knowing this, despite feeling the wrongness creeping along my skin, I was still carrying her back to my room.
Because I wanted her. Because I needed to understand what the fuck was happening to her.
I kicked the door open, stepping inside before slamming it shut behind me.
She smirked.
