Jake Horton and Melissa Knight were both stunned.
They had long known that Oliver Horton favored that woman outside, and even more so her daughter, but they never expected that in front of the boy, he would still choose Selena Horton.
When Selena Horton heard this, she smiled slightly, yet she still pressed her lips together and advised, "Dad, don't speak out of anger. Jake is the one who can carry on your lineage. Jake, please just apologize! Dad is just trying to scare you!"
Jake Horton looked coldly at Selena Horton, tightened his jaw, and scoffed, "A father like this, I'd rather not have!"
Selena Horton immediately exclaimed, "How can you speak like that? Dad has high hopes for you, it's for your own good... You are truly breaking Dad's heart!"
"He has high hopes for me? All I've ever heard from him is criticism; in his eyes, I'm just useless! A worthless person!"
Jake Horton bitterly laughed, "If that's the case, why does he still want me?"
