The morning sun filtered through the dense canopy of trees as Ravenna and Alaric wandered through the lush greenery of the island. The air smelled fresh, filled with an earthy scent of damp leaves and occasional sweetness of wildflowers. Ravenna, as expected, filled the silence with endless chatter while Alaric followed beside her, his hands lazily tucked into his pockets.
"Then I told Seth, 'If you ever steal my food again, I'll hex you into a toad.' You should've seen his face! I think he actually believed me," Ravenna said, laughing as she kicked a small pebble along the path.
"Mm," Alaroc responded in his usual way, acknowledging but never fully engaging.
Ravenna rolled her eyes. "Honestly, sometimes I wonder if you ever listen to me."
Alaric glanced at her. "I do."
