Chapter 138 - Chapter 138 Found You, Phoenix Power

Ever since Odin announced to the gods that his brother Thor would inherit the throne of Asgard and become the God-King, Loki had been holding back his frustration.

He simply couldn't understand it.

Thor was a complete fool, yet he was chosen to be the God-King. Why?

Why couldn't he be the ruler instead?

Of course, Loki knew the answer—because he wasn't Odin's biological son.

But even so, he refused to accept Thor as the rightful heir to the throne.

After all, in Loki's eyes, there was no real difference between Thor and an idiot.

Thor had been deceived and tricked countless times since childhood, yet he still hadn't learned his lesson.

If Thor became the King of Asgard, what would happen to their kingdom in the future? Would it fall into ruin?

Fortunately, their father wasn't entirely foolish.

Odin was well aware that Thor was not yet ready to rule, which was why he had appointed Luo Bai to act as the kingdom's overseer.

Although Luo Bai wasn't from Asgard, when Loki thought about it carefully...

Compared to Thor, Luo Bai was indeed far more suited to be the God-King.

With a sigh, Loki muttered under his breath, "What a pity. If Luo Bai were Asgardian, he would have been the rightful ruler. I would fully support him becoming the God-King."

Loki's voice wasn't loud, but it was enough to pierce Thor's fragile ego.

Today was supposed to be a big day for him.

He had finally ascended to the throne as King of Asgard.

But now, standing before him was Luo Bai.

His own brother had openly acknowledged him—yet in the same breath, he also supported an outsider over him.

It was as if the sky had come crashing down.

The more Thor thought about it, the more frustrated he became. His voice carried a trace of grievance as he asked,

"Why, Loki? You're my brother. You should support me! Why would you side with an outsider? He's not even Asgardian!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Loki scoffed and asked in return,

"Do I even need to explain? Tell me, in what way are you better than Luo Bai?"

Thor: "......"

For once, Thor was silent.

He genuinely began thinking about how he could possibly surpass Luo Bai.

But no matter how much he pondered... he couldn't find a single answer.

After a long silence, Thor finally let out a heavy sigh and admitted,

"Fine. I'll admit it—Luo Bai is much better than me. If he were Asgardian, I might actually support him as God-King myself."

Although Thor was frustrated, deep down, he recognized Luo Bai's superiority.

If someone was only slightly stronger than you, you might refuse to acknowledge them.

But if someone's strength was so overwhelming that you knew you could never surpass them, even if you didn't say it aloud, you would still accept their dominance in your heart.

That was how Thor felt about Luo Bai.

If it had been anyone else acting as his mentor, Thor might have outright rebelled against the idea.

What, did they expect him to be some kind of puppet king?

If that was the case, then he'd seize power tomorrow just to prove them wrong.

But because it was Luo Bai... he was actually willing to listen.

This was his way of showing trust and respect for Luo Bai.

Of course, for the sake of his own pride, Thor still had to put up some resistance.

With a stubborn look, he crossed his arms and said,

"Before this, I never expected you to become my mentor. So tell me, what exactly did my father ask you to teach me? Hah! Teaching me, Thor, the God of Thunder, won't be so easy!"

He tried his best to maintain the last shred of his dignity.

However, the next second, Luo Bai simply responded with an indifferent tone,

"Actually, I have nothing to teach you. Being your mentor is just a title your father Odin gave me. I never said I wanted to teach you anything."

Hearing this, Thor immediately panicked.

"That won't do!" he protested. "As my mentor, you have to teach me something! For example... uh, how to break teleportation magic!"

His eyes shone with eager anticipation.

Luo Bai was momentarily stunned.

It took him a few seconds to process Thor's words before he thought to himself,

My goodness... do these brothers really see magic as nothing more than a way to prank each other?

First Loki, and now Thor—they both just wanted to learn magic to mess with one another.

However, Luo Bai had no interest in wasting his time on that, so he simply declined,

"Your sister, Hela, should know."

The moment her name was mentioned, Thor suddenly remembered something.

"Wait... so my sister really turned over a new leaf?" he asked. "She's not going to cause trouble in Asgard anymore?"

"It shouldn't be an issue," Luo Bai replied casually. "The contract is in place, after all."

Only then did Thor finally breathe a sigh of relief.

After all, if another fight broke out, there was no way he could defeat Hela.

Back when he still had Mjolnir, he barely stood a chance.

But now? Now that his hammer had been completely shattered by Hela's bare hands?

He wouldn't stand a chance at all.

Thinking of this, Thor muttered, "That's good, then."

With everything now settled, there was no longer any reason for Luo Bai to remain in Asgard.

"Alright," Luo Bai said. "I've finished everything your father asked me to do. From here on out, just take care of your sister, and Asgard should enjoy a brief period of peace. I'll be leaving now."

After giving Thor a few final words of advice, Luo Bai turned and opened a portal.

With a single step, he vanished—returning to Earth.

After returning to Kamar-Taj, Luo Bai called Wong to ask about the situation over the past few days.

"How are Doctor Strange and Stark doing recently?" Luo Bai asked.

At the mention of these two, Wong sighed in frustration.

"Those two are unbelievable. I don't know why, but they just can't seem to get along whenever they meet. They've only known each other for a few days, yet they're already competing against each other."

"I heard they've been trying to prove who has the better talent and who can learn faster. Now, they're sneaking into the library every day, stealing books, and driving the librarian crazy."

"They haven't even attended a single class in days!" Wong grumbled.

Luo Bai wasn't the least bit surprised by this.

After all, this was completely in line with their personalities—reckless, arrogant, and always trying to one-up each other.

Thinking of this, Luo Bai asked, "So, are they planning to study the next course on their own?"

"That's what they told me. I have no idea what's wrong with those two. They keep trying to outdo each other, and now they're even saying my teaching is too slow and might hold them back," Wong said, sounding utterly exasperated.

Seeing Wong so frustrated, Luo Bai couldn't help but chuckle.

"Alright, since they want to learn on their own, let them. Don't worry about them. They're different from ordinary mages—if they run into any problems, they'll come to you themselves."

Wong nodded in agreement.

After all, Kamar-Taj had seen its fair share of prodigies.

Take the current Sorcerer Supreme—Luo Bai himself.

Did the Ancient One constantly supervise his training?

No. She simply left him alone, and he figured things out by himself.

Some people just learned differently.

After giving his report, Wong left.

Once he was gone, Luo Bai made his way to the study on the second floor of the New York Sanctum.

He originally planned to meditate for a while, absorbing some energy to replenish his immortal power.

But at that moment, a voice suddenly echoed in his ears.

It was distant—so far away it felt as if it came from the depths of the universe—yet at the same time, it was crystal clear.

As soon as the voice rang out, Luo Bai felt his immortal power awaken instantly.

But this awakening was different from all the times before.

In the past, his immortal power would always react with excitement whenever it encountered a powerful source of energy.

But this time… it wasn't just excitement.

It was something deeper. Something primal.

It was a feeling of conquest—as if it had just encountered an old rival.

Then, as the sensation intensified, Luo Bai heard the voice of his immortal power repeating in his mind:

"I found you… Phoenix Force."
