[Voice]
Cori: GAHHH! I think I overslept!
Cori did in fact oversleep, no one else was in the room. Not even Brigg. What happened? Wasn't Brigg supposed to wake her up? Where was everyone?
Cori: Hello? Brigg?
Everyone was gone, what happened? Cori creaks the door open.
Brigg: Yo Cori, finally awake? The ceremony has already started. We should stay away from the place, want to go look around this place?
Cori: Y-You scared the shit out of me. Why didn't you wake me up?
Brigg; You looked really cute while sleeping, I didn't want to accidentally wake you up. You don't need to be anywhere anyways.
Cori: Alright… Just roaming around here seems boring, don't you think we could listen in on the ceremony?
Brigg: I can't risk you getting near the ceremony and making a scene. They have some good food for the guests around here… Oh right. You can't eat the stuff.
Cori: What else is there to do?
Brigg: There are some elderly people playing a game called gold in one of the indoor areas, we could try that out.
Cori: Games, games. What is the point?
Brigg: It's fun.
Cori: What does fun even give you? Joy? I get joy from eating human Brigg, not from "golf".
Brigg: Let's not do that.
Cori: If you don't want me to eat those sacks of flesh called "humans" let me take a peek at the throne room.
Brigg: *sigh* I feel like I'm being too nice.
Brigg and Cori are now seen standing before a large door, it was at least a couple of meters high, one must wonder how people open this door. The frame was made out of some precious metal unknown to Cori, it was a sight to behold. Cori could admire the door for hours.
Cori: I can't hear anything, is anything even going on in there?
Brigg: I guess it's too quiet to listen in, let's go.
Cori: What if I get closer…
Brigg: I feel like this is a bad idea.
A woman suddenly walks past getting Cori's attention. Cori jumps back from the door toward Brigg. The woman had a black fur collar with a black cloak, golden patterns were visible on the cloak and on her face, she wore a blindfold across one eye, almost like an eyepatch. Some sort of ancient text was inscribed on the blindfold that Cori couldn't make out. The woman's eyes glowed a sparkly gold color. Her appearance was topped off with a dress underneath the cloak, golden hexagons decorated the dress like medals, around her waist where a ribbon should usually be as a belt was a strange device on it.
Woman: What are you guys doing here? Not allowed into the throne room too?
Cori: Uhh, no, we were ju-
Brigg: This lady here isn't allowed in, you are correct.
Cori glared at Brigg.
Woman: I thought I would be lonely, but I guess I have some company, I'm also not allowed in. You're a demon, right? I thought your species was extinct. The palace grounds were the last place that I would expect to find a demon… Are you considered to be someone's pet by chance? That would be the only reasonable explanation on why you're still alive, nobles have been keeping many weird pets recently, but then again, it would ruin their reputation to keep a demon.
Cori: I'm not that bad, ok? Also, I am not a pet, that's weird.
Brigg: She is a pet.
Woman: Anyways, I will take my leave here, my name is Zeta by the way, what's your's
Cori: You're creepy, I'm not telling you.
Zeta: Interesting, I will see you around… I guess.
Zeta leaves, walking slowly down one of the corridors.
Brigg: Cori! Are you trying to start a fight?
Cori: What? You expect me to give my name to someone who looks like a supervillain?
Brigg: Have some respect. If you don't give your name, you could start fights, this is a sign of great disrespect. You're lucky she understands that you're a demon.
Cori: Whatever, whatever. I'm listening to this whole hero selection thing. Maybe something interesting is going on.
Cori listens in on the hero selection ceremony. Someone seemed to be talking.
Voice: Do we have everyone here? All 100? My apologies for being unorganized, we were missing a slot for a candidate, we have managed to find one just in time. I welcome you all to the grand opening, here, you will be able to meet the candidates for the selection, they will do their opening speeches. Best of luck to all, I know every single one of you have made huge sacrifices to come here.
The speech continues with generic thanks, Cori tuned out the boring mumbling.
Cori: Dammit! You asshole! Start the dang thing already. What do you mean you are going to shake hands now?
The first hero eventually steps up.
Leon: My name is Leon, I know many of you have heard of my deeds, and I thank you all for letting me participate in this event. I have trained and fought as a holy knight for over 12 years, contributing to many battles in the last void surge. I want to focus on wiping out all evil from this country. As long as I am selected to be the hero for this country, I will exterminate each and every evil being with my sword. This country has long suffered from many disasters from demon beasts and cultists, I believe that those are the main problems to address, I will have all citizens of this land suffer no longer!
The speech continues, stating what he will do for the country.
Cori: Ugh… He's worse than Altair, at least Altair is a nice person I guess. He's another one of those demon slayers. But isn't Altair a holy knight also? I forgot.
Brigg: You seem to be deep in thought, as long as nobody sees us, I guess we can listen in.
The crowd applauds the "Leon" character as he finishes his speech.
Voice: I would like the next one to step up!
Cori: Are each and every one of them going to blabber on for hours? Jeez, what is wrong with this event?
Voice: My name is Kalvus!
Voice: My name is Galwin!
Voice: My name is Corvius!
6 candidates had given their speeches, it was getting a bit boring.
Cori: Ughh… We have to get through 100? But this lasts a month. A month of this bullshit. I at least want to hear Altair's little speech, then I'll settle to play golf with that Zeta woman.
Cori's prayers would be immediately answered as the next person was called up.
Voice: Next!
Altair: Hello everybody, my name is Altair, and I have many big dreams, these can be achieved once I become a hero. I will make sure everyone around has equality and has an equal chance at life. I want to rid Eden of suffering through my ideals.
Altair continues on with his childish goals, eventually, the speech ends. There was silence.
Voice: Alright Altair, we will like to see how the people see you, any questions and concerns for Altair?
Voice: Where is Aquilla? Wasn't he supposed to be here?
Altair: He wasn't able to attend, he's busy, so I had to attend in his place from now on.
Voice: I like Aquilla much better, he seems nicer. Who let this bum in?
Voice: He does have the medallion so he can technically be considered a candidate.
Voice: Isn't Altair a Cessian? Look at his ears and body, disgusting!
Voice: He seems kind of young, is he even fit to be a hero?
[Altair]
Hero means a lot in the northern archipelago, it not only means you are the protector of your country, but it means you'll be the king's successor. I thought I did good in my speech but maybe not, this prejudice against my race, this is why I wanted equality, I had seen many people suffer while the top nobles like myself sit by and commit atrocities, I don't want that to happen. But why are the people so mad? The room I was in was full of spectators and holy knights, the knights should know some sense of justice right?
Holy knight: I feel like we should disqualify Altair, this is the most empty promise I heard yet. Childish…
Holy knight 2: This kid has been reading too many fairy tales, really, does he even know what real problems this country has?
I suddenly hear one of the heroes speak up.
Leon: Sir Altair, I heard rumors you were keeping a demon as a pet, some people saw her, you were known as a demon slayer, and yet you keep one? How hypocritical.
Altair: This one is special, I can prove it.
I turned to my side, Edda was there. Each hero had a knight, a sidekick that would support them, she nodded but didn't say anything. I was alone in the matter.
Leon: And before, you were talking about how dangerous and treacherous they can be, now you go back on your word? Why would you keep one of those rats as a pet?
Crowd: Yeah, get this guy out of here!
Chaos was breaking out in the crowd, people started shouting at me, pieces of junk were being thrown. I was about to cry, I wanted to cry. Suddenly, the door burst open, shouldn't it have been locked?
Cori: What the hell did you guys say about me? Calling me a rat? Who the hell do you guys think you are?
The display of pride made the crowd go silent, I was too shy to scold her or speak up. The king who sat on this throne overlooking the room. He wore a mask and a hood, his body was completely covered, hiding his spin completely, the snow white rodes flowed to his boots, his crown was of solid gold with a single gemstone in the center. He was the first to speak.
King: I know security on the entrance here was minimal, but the door was locked, how did you get in.
Cori: None of your business! What the hell are you guys doing talking trash about my friend here! Also, more importantly, which one of you called me a rat! I will have you know I am the king of demons! King of demons hear me?!
Leon: What a hot head, who invited you in?
Cori: I invited myself, this stupid little royal meeting held by some stupid royal is an insult to me!
Cori points at the king and shows him a middle finger.
Cori: You guys better stop talking crap about me and Altair or I will beat you up!
I could hear one of the guards talking to the king.
Guard: Should we execute her? She just insulted your highness.
King: I don't put down every dog that barks at me.
Cori: Any comments? Learn your lessons, you dogs!
Cori couldn't stop talking, each word she spoke made me shutter, the crowd had an uncomfortable expression.
Leon: This must be the demon Altair owns. Hm?
Leon turns toward one of the holy knights.
Cori: Why you… Who even are you? Who do you think you are compared to me? You're nothing you mutt! You dog! Nothing!
Leon: I am a holy knight who had the misfortune of dealing with your species before.
Cori: Holy knight huh? Well? You holy knights are poor excuses! If you really were a holy knight, you should be defending the righteous! As in shutting down those insults that clearly violate my rights!
Cori points her thumb at herself and makes a face, she is starting to look like a real demon. Were these her true colors? This was all from one insult. As long as she isn't presented with consequences, she just does whatever she wants.
Cori: These insults violate MY rights, kill those criminals you dog!
Leon: That isn't a violation of rights, where did you learn to talk like this?
Holy knight: Sir Leon, It's pointless to converse with this demon, we should drag this thing outside.
Leon: Altair is right, she is kind of special, you wouldn't expect demons to be this emotional, she is also shorter than usual.
Cori: DAMN HOLY KNIGHTS! You! I will beat you up! I will kill you!
Leon: Sure, we usually challenge each other to duels to do this, but I don't think we should do that.
Cori: Well, I challenge you to a duel anyways!
Leon: Really? I mean…
Holy knight: This is a hindrance, why did you give her the idea?
Leon: I really didn't expect this, does this demon have no survival instinct? Your highness, you wouldn't allow this during this occasion, correct?
King: I do allow it, it would make things interesting. But drop the killing part.
Leon: Damn…
Leon turns towards me.
Leon: Altair, this is your subordinate, correct?
I had the urge to say no.
Altair: Technically yes…
Leon: Alright, I, Leon of the holy knights, accept your challenge.
She had just challenged the honor of the holy knights, specifically Leon. I knew she would lose, this would be a huge loss for me.
[Voice]
The duel was held in the sparring grounds of the castle, wooden swords were handed out to each participant. The ground was made of the packed sand you would find at any other training ground.
King: On the left, we have that demon, on the right, we have the holy knight Leon. I have the feeling this might be close.
The entirety of the holy knights that were invited were watching closely, Altair was on the other side of the training grounds on some bleachers, he looked miserable.
King: Begin!
Cori: You rotting flesh bag… I will show you!
Cori rushed forward with all her might, she had one hand on her sword while the other hand lifted her dress up, she had refused to take it off before the fight. They clash swords, an echoing clack sound was heard.
Spectator: This is interesting! That demon is still fighting with that dress on.
Leon: This is pathetic. An 80 year old woman can hit harder than this.
Leon knocks Cori a couple of feet back effortlessly with one hand motion, her sword flies out of her hand. The crowd immediately shrunk into awkward silence.
Cori: Ugh… You bitch…
Leon: I thought a demon would be slightly stronger, maybe you're holding back? Don't you dare disappoint me after all that has happened.
Cori: I will make sure you never pick up a sword again…
Cori picks up her dropped sword, a bruise forms on her cheek.
Leon: Just because you are a girl doesn't mean I will hold back.
Cori makes another reckless charge and is again knocked back.
Leon: Is this all you can do? Do you have any experience?
Cori: Damn you… I will show you, this is just the beginning!
Leon: You can resign right now and keep some of your pride. There's nothing wrong with admitting defeat.
Cori: Never… Not until I teach you scum a lesson.
Leon: *Sigh* (I feel like I'm the one teach the lesson here.)
Cori: DIE YOU SCUM!
Cori raises her sword high above her head and charges at Leon.
Leon: You're wide open.
Leon proceeds to hit Cori's ribcage, the crowd gasps, a small crunching sound is heard, Cori's ribcage may have broken.
Cori: Guh! I-I'll never give up against you.
Leon: Resign now, this is for your own good.
Cori: You shitbag! You bag of good for nothing meat! I will kill you! I will kill your family for this!
The crowd was still silent.
Leon: I don't even know your name, why so personal?
Cori: It's not personal… It's deserved! I am not telling you my name! You don't deserve to know it!
Leon: *Sigh* (I should just get this over with)
Leon goes on the offensive and rushes toward Cori doing a somersault over her. Before COri could react, the wooden sword hit the back of her head and she fell to the ground. The crowd gasped again.
Leon: Hmph, seems like my opponent is incapable of fighting anymore, I win.
Leon suddenly felt a sword hit his shin, Cori was still conscious at least, she looked like roadkill at this point.
Leon: I am more impressed at the fact you didn't get knocked out by that, I have to give you that.
Leon puts hit foot on Cori's head, she squirms under Leon's boot trying to break free.
Leon: But other than that, you're utterly pathetic, I would expect at least some show of power from a sinner like you, but you are just so weak. Who do you even think you are?
Cori: I-I am the demon king you hear me? I will-
Leon: How weak are you? You are nothing but a disappointment, demon! You came into the hero selection and made a scene, and you still show no shame? Do you have a sense of shame?
Leon turns toward Altair.
Leon: This is your little pet right? I don't understand why it wouldn't kill something THIS pathetic.
Cori: I won't give up… Not to you…
Leon: *Sigh* I can consider this my win, my opponent hasn't been able to fight from under my foot.
King: The duel concludes! Leon wins, this fight was much less entertaining than anticipated. Leon, what are the terms of your victory?
Leon: Demon, you come into the hero selection and decide to make a scene, insulting everyone, you insult my honor, the honor of this great nation, and your own honor. Do you have anything to say?
Cori: Damn you…
Leon: What is your name demon?
Cori: I will never tell you… You don't deserve it you bitch.
Leon: Very well. Hear me sinner, get out of the royal capital, never come back, do not step foot in this place again. Demons are irredeemable pieces of garbage, they have no place among us! Altair, this is a great dishonor to our nation, to our people that you would keep a demon alive. Just look at this! If you never took this damn sinner in, maybe things wouldn't be so complicated currently, teach them some manners before bringing them anywhere you please.
Cori insulting the holy knights has resulted in multiple political problems, especially if those words came out from a demon's mouth. Insulting holy knights is a big deal.
Leon: Do you have anything to say about this? Altair?
Altair: I will deal with this situation later, my apologies.
Leon lifts his foot off Cori, she immediately gets up, charging at Leon. Leon proceeds to hit Cori on the head with the holt of his sword, she was out cold for good this time.
Leon: I would kill this demon right now if I could, all of them deserve nothing but death, for keeping them alive means the death and destruction of anything.
(Hours later…)
Cori woke up in a room, it was the same sleeping quarters that she was told to stay in. The bunks were empty this time.
Cori: Ugh… My head…
Cori's face was bruised, multiple injuries were on her body, she had bandages all over her body.
Cori: I… I lost?
She lay on her bed and decided to relax, Altair walked in on her.
Altair: We need to talk, what the hell do you think you are doing?
Cori: What did I do that was bad this time?
Altair: EVERYTHING! Do you know what you did? You basically ruined my chances! You are destroyed by dreams!
Cori: You should blame that Leon guy, I stood up for you Altair, I helped you more than anything, how ungrateful are you?
Altair: You could have helped in some other way other than barging in!
Cori: I wouldn't let that insult slide, you shouldn't either, I was defending you, I was defending myself.
Altair: Well? Do it in some different way that doesn't make me look bad! You… You basically went into the hero selection room, made a fool of yourself, insulted the holy knights, and proceeded to lose a duel. How much lower can you go? Could you not have listened to me and stayed outside that stupid room?
Cori: Well, I think I did the right thing in defending my rights, is that not wrong to do? I deserve to defend myself! They deserve to perish!
Cori had a wicked expression on her face as she said this.
Altair: Who ever taught you this? This isn't how it works, the world doesn't revolve around you, Cori. What are you talking about, you ruined my reputation Cori, what exactly did you do to deserve anything?
Cori: I DESERVE BETTER AFTER EVERYTHING, DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? I HAD TO DEAL WITH SO MUCH BULLSHIT TO GET HERE, AND I DON'T GET TO DO WHAT I WANT? I DON'T GET TO DO WHAT I NEED TO DO? Do you have any respect?
Unfortunately, Altair doesn't know what Cori has been through, he didn't know that in these few days, Cori had spent months toiling around. Cori seemed nothing short of insane.
Altair: What are you talking about?
Cori: These stupid humans insult you and me, and you proceed to stand there… I WAS THE ONE WHO STOOD UP FOR US, ALTAIR! Unlike you, I have the guts to fight back against those dogs, those mutts! You just cower there in a corner like a bitch, I thought you were better than this. I did everything for you Altair, and you aren't happy?
Altair: *Sigh* There's no use talking to you, it's best if you leave right now and fulfill the conditions of that duel. I will have Brigg lead you back to the manor, never talk to me again…
The ride home was long, Brigg only led her to the carriage that would carry her back to the manor. Despite only being a 20 minute ride home, it felt like an hour, for some reason, getting kicked out had some weight to Cori, after her dream of seeing gold and silver halls faded, Cori didn't care too much about what was going to happen, but some lingering regret formed in the demon's heart, dragging at her feet each step away from the capital she took.
Cori: Dammit dammit dammit… Why does no one listen to me, I did something good, right? I decided to defend Altair, I defended myself, and yet, I got punished? Those damn holy knights… Those assholes are nothing but dogs… Nothing but ants… How dare they insult me of all people? Insult the demon king! I will kill every single one of them, and that's a promise. WHat is with those bastards and talking so big, who even gave them the title of holy knight? Those prideful fucks… Who do they think they are? Who do they think they are? I can already see their smiles after kicking me out, it makes me sick… I will destroy them all once I get the slightest upper hand… These holy knights, I will kill them. I will kill every single one of their family members, I will burn the capital down before they know it… Those bastards, I can't stop thinking about it. What is their problem with demons anyways, I'm not even that bad, I even did many good things, I saved someone from that demon beast attack, I had to die so many times, and yet, they think they're better than me? I am a hero compared to those puny knights, I AM THE ONE WHO IS WORTHY OF BEING A HERO! Those bitches deserve nothing but death! I Will take over the holy knights, and put people in there that actually deserve it, those rats don't deserve any title, I will make sure they suffer, I will make them feel pain! I have felt unimaginable pain, they deserve to feel the pain that I have suffered… I WANT THEM TO ALL DIE! DIE LIKE THE WORMS THEY ARE! I DESERVE SO MUCH MORE, DO YOU HEAR ME? If there is any god out there, you are absolutely worthless… What type of god has holy knights of this caliber? Why do you allow these "holy" knights to stand before you and claim that they are holy knights? WHAT IS SO HOLY ABOUT THESE LOSERS?
Cori proceeded to stand pounding on the windows which were extremely durable, adding more bruises to her body.
Cori: I swear to god. I WILL KILL THEM, I WILL KILL THEM, I WILL KILL THEM! It is about time I stop trying to be a noble hero, I went in to defend Altair and me since it was my duty as the "chosen one". BUT WHAT USE IS THAT SHITTY ASS TITLE WHEN I GET NOTHING BUT SUFFERING, NO RESPECT, NO RIGHTS, AND NO FREEDOM. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD? Why am I the chosen one? Why am I supposed to be the hero? FOR CHRIST SAKE, I AM TREATED LIKE SOME LOWLY VILLAIN SCUM. I try to do what heroes do, to defend the ones that I like, that is what they do in the books. THAT LEON PERSON IS THE REAL VILLAIN, GODS, DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? ALTAIR, DO YOU NOT CARE? IS IT NOT OBVIOUS ENOUGH? DO I HAVE TO PROVE MY POINT MORE? HE INSULTED SOMEONE LIKE ME. NO ONE INSULTS PEOPLE LIKE ME! Calling me pathetic… Suppressing my rights… THAT IS A TRUE VILLAIN, NOT ME! WHY DO I GET THE BLAME? WHY DO I GET THE SUFFERING? This goddamn system is RIGGED! IT'S ALL SHITTY, EVERYONE AROUND ME IS INSANE, THEY ARE ALL NUMBSKULLS THAT ARE NOTHING BUT ROTTING MEATBAGS TO BE BURNED LIKE HOT GARBAGE. THIS IS WHAT HUMANITY IS LIKE. I will destroy everything… Build it all anew if I had the chance… Maybe that's the mission I have as the chosen one… To rid this rotten world of people like this! I WILL BE A HERO! A SAINT, YOU UNDERSTAND? IF THERE IS ANY GOD LISTENING TO ME, I WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING! YOU WORTHLESS BASTARDS! I WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING!
Voice: I hear you.
Cori: Huh?
Grimm: It's me, Grimm, I can only connect to you for a few moments, this is a result of my blessing I gave you, remember?
Cori didn't remember.
Cori: Ahh, right! Grimm, hello! Nothing's wrong, everything is alright!
Grimm: You started some sort of prayer that caught my attention, maybe I'm just sick…
Cori: If you are sick, you should leave already, shouldn't you be resting? I would specifically call your name if I needed something.
Grimm: Alright, and remember what I told you, blonde hair, and golden eyes…
Grimm's voice fades away, Cori had an extremely annoyed expression on her face.
Cori: I fucking hate you Grimm… Yet another violation of my rights, is there no privacy? I will kill you to Grimm… I swear. I have the golden eyes you need so badly, is that not enough for you? Then why not be my dog if you want me to do something so badly, begging me for that lost princess of yours? If you want something so badly, then why not do something for me?
Something formed in Cori's mind.
Cori: Neh hehehehe… Once I figure out how to use Grimm's power, I can get him to kill those stupid holy knights! Such a marvelous plan, Cori…
Cori was right, there was no privacy in this world, Brigg was listening to Cori the whole time. He heard part of her prideful rant and decided to cover his ears, unfortunately missing the conversation with Grimm.
Brigg: I should have stopped her when she broke down that door to the throne room. Why am I never capable of stopping the actions of people… I am such a coward… Why would I let someone do something like that? This is my punishment isn't it? Sitting in the back of the carriage while I listen to Cori spout nonsense… Thank god I will be returning to the capital after this.
The carriage eventually arrives at the manor, dropping Cori off. She doesn't even look back at the carriage as she was greeted by Bella. Bella leads her back into the manor silently despite not knowing of the news. She eventually returns Cori into her room, despite the upgrade in quality from the servant quarters she didn't seem to be happy at all.
Bella: You're back, what happened?
Cori: I got kicked out.
Bella: What? What did you do?
Cori: It's none of your business, woman.
Bella: Alright, fine.
Cori: Here's a letter by the way, Altair told me to give it to you when he put me on the carriage.
Cori had previously hid the letter.
Bella: I see, hand it over.
Cori hands the letter over, Bella's face drops as she reads it, it was obviously something about Cori.
Bella: Unfortunate… I have no comments for this, but on the bright side, I do have some work for you since you're employed here.
Cori: What is it?
Bella: I will tell you later, anyways, I do have some presents for you I forgot to give to you, we renewed that rusty dagger you have and I have something extra now.
Cori: Hm?
Bella: If you are going to accept this work, I have to give you this collar thing, it helps us tell if you die or not. It also helps us prevent you from running away.
Cori: Oh right…
Cori remembers the gifts she had received in a previous loop, this was the exact gift. Bella attaches the collar around Cori's neck, and hands the knife over.
Cori: I feel ready enough, what is the task?
Bella: You seem a bit too eager, you don't even have your work uniform on yet.
Cori: The maid outfit, right. Where do you put the clothes?
Bella: In the dressing room of course, follow me.
Cori eventually gets dressed, due to the lack of maids, new outfits weren't a priority. Cori was given an extra outfit for Bella, Cori wasn't happy to put it on for a second time.
Cori: Umph, this is kind of tight!
Bella: I swear I asked one of the other maids to make another outfit for you, looks like they are taking longer than expected.
Cori: Tell them to hurry the hell up, I don't want to wear some child sized clothes.
Bella: At least it isn't too small, I say it fits your body type perfectly.
Cori: *sigh* When are we going to get to the point of the task?
Bella: You should thank me later, this could earn you more of those coins you like so much.
Cori's eyes instantly light up, she remembers Caesar's plan of getting a bunch of money and getting the hell out of the place,
Cori: Now we are talking, what is it?
Bella: We have a town under our land, unfortunately, it has been in a slight decline due to Aquilla being away a lot.
In reality, Aquila was more incompetent than anything for some reason, was he ignoring this town for some reason? Bella didn't want to admit the truth due to their master and servant relationship, she is obligated to make Aquilla look good as his servant.
Cori: Yeah, yeah, just put me in my place already, I'd do anything for money, honestly.
Bella: Those are big words, would you really do anything?
Bella knew if Cori said something, she literally meant it.
Cori: Of course, money is life, nothing more.
Bella: Interesting. Anyways, we should have a lodge outside of the town in the forest, Aquilla's butlers would stay there if we ever needed to go out on long term missions. I'll give you a map with directions to it. I will warn you, the place is pretty messed up, I'll pay you extra if you clean it.
Cori: Sure thing.
Bella: You really would do anything for money…
Cori: Do you have anything to fix my body, it's been sore for a long time.
Bella: Just rest up, don't rush yourself with your work.
Cori: *sigh* I'll get going to that town.
Bella hands over the map and Cori leaves. She doesn't turn back even once when she leaves the front gate.
Bella: I feel like I'm being too nice, that task was given as a punishment but I glamourized it. I guess it's an easy way to get demons to do something, I thought she liked money…
Helping the town out… Maybe Cori can do something good, but does she really have the strength and dedication to do so?
