Chapter 231 - Chapter 231: The Final Target

The Marquis' eyes widened in terror. In the next moment, he saw a flash of sword light before him. Instinctively, he raised his treasured sword to block Bai Li Changqing's attack.

Clang—

A crisp sound echoed as his prized sword was sliced cleanly in two. In an instant, Jiemie severed the Marquis' head from his body.

[Killed Martial King, gained 1,000,000 evolution points]

[Absorbed Martial King's blood, gained 100 energy points]

...

"Finally," Bai Li Changqing muttered as he watched Jiemie absorb the Marquis' blood. Taking a deep breath, he whispered, "It's over."

This assassination not only left him unscathed, but the deaths of so many powerful warriors granted him immense strength.

He had even broken through to a new level!

The gap between a Martial King and a Martial Saint was enormous. Now that Bai Li Changqing had reached the Martial Saint level, and with the additional All Attribute Amplification from Jiemie, his strength had surged to unprecedented heights.

Sheathing Jiemie, Bai Li Changqing swiftly left the scene.

...

Meanwhile, in her room, Ye Yaar was pacing nervously, glancing repeatedly toward the window.

"Shouldn't there be any problems?" she wondered aloud, clearly anxious.

Despite her concern, she reassured herself, "But he's an assassin. If he can't kill his target, he should be able to escape without much trouble, right?"

This thought allowed her to relax a little.

Whoosh—

Suddenly, a shadow flashed through the window.

"Who's there?" Ye Yaar instantly sensed something, her voice tense.

"It's me," Bai Li Changqing said, stepping into view.

"You're back?" Ye Yaar gasped in surprise, her eyes lighting up.

"Yes."

"You're not hurt, are you?" Ye Yaar asked, her gaze scanning Bai Li Changqing's body for any injuries. Seeing that he appeared unharmed, she exhaled in relief.

"No, I'm fine," Bai Li Changqing replied, shaking his head.

"If you couldn't succeed, it's okay," Ye Yaar said, her expression serious. "With so many powerful figures from various cities gathering, it's clear that the Marquis was plotting something big—perhaps even a rebellion."

"The mission is complete," Bai Li Changqing stated calmly.

"Complete..." Ye Yaar's eyes widened. "You mean... you killed the Marquis?"

Stunned, she stared at him, her face filled with disbelief.

"Yes, but we need to leave quickly," Bai Li Changqing continued.

With the Marquis dead, staying in the city would only invite unnecessary trouble, even though, with his current strength, few could oppose him.

"Understood." Ye Yaar nodded, following him out of the room.

At the city gate, there were no guards in sight. Most of the city's warriors had rushed to the Marquis' estate due to the chaos there.

"I can't believe you actually succeeded," Ye Yaar said, her eyes filled with admiration as they walked out of the city.

"And without even a scratch," she added, her surprise evident.

"I happened to have grown a bit stronger," Bai Li Changqing responded nonchalantly, his gaze shifting toward the sky.

"The time has come. I have to leave," he added.

"You're leaving already?" Ye Yaar asked, a hint of sadness in her voice.

For some reason, she felt an unexpected sense of loss, a heaviness in her chest.

"Yes," Bai Li Changqing replied. "I still have a mission to complete."

As an assassin, his only goal was to complete his tasks. Any attachments or distractions were a liability in his line of work.

"Farewell."

Before Ye Yaar could say another word, Bai Li Changqing's figure blurred and disappeared into the darkness.

"Bai Li Changqing!" she called out, but he had already vanished, leaving only the night behind.

"So quick to leave," Ye Yaar muttered to herself, sighing softly.

If he had stayed just a moment longer...

Reaching up, she grasped the edge of her face and pulled. The lifelike mask came off, revealing a beautiful, youthful face beneath it.

"I guess we'll meet again someday," she whispered, then turned to leave in the opposite direction.

She, too, had her own business to attend to and needed to return quickly.

...

Bai Li Changqing had already traveled far.

"Something feels off," he muttered to himself as he continued his journey. His emotions had been unsettled tonight.

Shaking his head, he leapt onto a tree and settled down, closing his eyes to rest.

"With over 700 million evolution points, I'm close to leveling up," Ye Fan mused, checking the system's status.

While SS-tier hadn't brought significant changes, reaching SSS-tier would undoubtedly lead to a major transformation. Ye Fan could already feel it.

The next morning, Bai Li Changqing resumed his journey, heading straight for Canglong City.

His final mission was to assassinate one last target. Once he completed this task, his current round of missions would be over for the time being.

"Did you hear? The Marquis was assassinated!"

"I heard it was the people from Falling Moon Pavilion."

"Falling Moon Pavilion? They're really that bold?"

...

As Bai Li Changqing walked through the streets, he overheard several warriors murmuring to each other.

Hmm? How do they know I'm from Falling Moon Pavilion? Bai Li Changqing wondered.

After thinking about it for a moment, he realized that during his fight at the Marquis' estate, someone must have recognized the signature assassination techniques of Falling Moon Pavilion.

After grabbing a meal at an inn, Bai Li Changqing left the city and continued toward Canglong City.

Along the road, a few shadows suddenly appeared.

"Bai Li Changqing."

Several men, dressed in black with wide-brimmed hats, stood before him. They, too, were assassins from Falling Moon Pavilion.

"Do you need something?" Bai Li Changqing asked, casting a glance at them. His voice was calm and indifferent.

Although they were all part of the same organization, Bai Li Changqing had no personal connections with them. He always worked alone.

"Did you kill the Marquis?" one of the men asked, his eyes fixed on Bai Li Changqing, suspicion evident in his voice.

He seemed doubtful. After all, Bai Li Changqing was just a peak Martial King. Could he really have killed the Marquis?
