Chapter 90 - Chapter 41 - Force feedback

Dear Diary,

SCREW THAT!

What the F*CK was an actual Primordial doing on Olympus? Aren't those supposed to be kind of extinct? As much I hate that b*tch Aphrodite, she would not lie about something important as that!

But really hooooly sh*t, was it scary! Not the Primordial really, that thing just looked weird.

No, it was rather the forces the Primordial sent. It was full of nopes! Flying eyeballs, wailing wings, three-faced somethings. At least those feathery shiny hoops were kind of cool, I wonder in how many dimensions they existed, since I could never see them in full.

But Zeus be praised, that Artemis was spending all the time with me because if she did not bail us in time, we would be so dead! Or whatever that Primordial was planning to do with us. Could not be anything good, though.

Sadly at this point, I was nothing much more than a small blob of ichor, barely having the capacity to think and convey it to Artemis.

Luckily, I devised a genius plan.

"Artemis! Artemis! Hey listen!" said her Athena's voice, but it was so weak, so tiny.

"Athena?!" she looked around herself looking for her Athena, but could not immediately spot her.

"Here, on your left shoulder," said her Athena.

"Wha... What happened to you?!" she shouted once she saw the unrealistic sight.

There, on her left shoulder was sitting tiny little Athena. So small, she could easily fit in the palm of her hand.

"Well, with the amount of ichor I had available, this was the best I could do," her Athena explained.

"Then why did not wait until I got you more ichor?" she asked confused.

"Artemis, that is impossible. The only places with an ichor are on the Olympus and in the Underworld. And let's be realistic, what are the chances, that that Primordial, did not go directly to Underworld after they took Olympus?" her Athena questioned.

"We could try to go there! I'm fast, we could outrun the Primordial," she proclaimed with barely a doubt in her capabilities.

"No, Artemis. It is too risky... And I don't want you to..." her Athena begged.

"What else we can do then?" she wondered, whether the tiny Athena had some kind of plan.

"We will track the Amazonians, with you as the best tracker that there is, it should not be a problem," her Athena said.

"What? Why the Amazonians? Moreover, are there even any left?" she was just confused by this.

"Well, there is an Amazonian princess in Athens, married to Theseus. Without a doubt that is Aphrodite's doing. But this time it is surprisingly a good thing. You see, I sneak into Athens - in this form, not even that Primordial will be able to detect me. And I ask the Princess, where is her Queen located. And where is the Amazonian Queen, there also must be the Amazonians. Then we train them, teach them, and make them drive the Primordial out of Olympus. And if that does not work, then we can use Amazonians to wipe out our whole region out of humans, that should force the Primordial to move somewhere else," her clever Athena explained.

She could do nothing more, but grin and nod to the brilliant plan her Athena has formulated.

"So what is with the wings?" she asked once the thoughts on the plan settled in her mind.

"I'm glad you asked?! With those, I can move all around on my ow..." her tiny Athena started to explain while jumping into the air, rapidly fluttering her tiny little wings, only to fall.

Luckily her huntress's reflexes were unbeatable and she caught her falling Athena.

"Thank you. With a bit of practice, I should be able to move on my own and since I took the design directly from dragonflies, I will be able to even hover in place!" her tiny Athena puffed her chest, being rightfully proud of her genius.

She was for the loss of the words, by how cute, her Athena looked like.

Getting out of the island of Lemnos was not hard, the ship, supplies, and crew were already ready when he got his new clothes, which was surprisingly fast, for humans. The ship itself was fast and the crew knew how to handle it quite well. At least he supposed so, since he had almost no knowledge about navigating high seas.

Either way, several days later, he stood on the shores of the island of Crete. Now the secrecy was of the utmost importance as he did not want to draw much attention to himself, from either Zeus or whoever was manipulating Talos. For exactly that reason, he ordered his ship to land on the uninhabited part of the island, so he could easily recover his core, without anyone noticing.

Luckily, he was the creator of Talos, and as such he knew how exactly it worked in and out. Thanks to this he had no problems disabling the colossus, even if he sort of pretended to engage it in combat. It was just a play, to make his ship crew believe that he seriously doing some fighting, since that was the way he painted the quest he was supposedly given by his godly parent, Arachne.

Hours later the highly efficient women, who made most of the crew that came here with him, mad and encampment, seemingly out of nowhere. He was no expert on military and fighting in general, but the camp was looking well defended. At least against the human-sized enemies, it would do nothing to the Talos, since it was too big and too fast.

The colossus appeared in the distance and was, one step after another. With its size, it almost appeared to move slowly, but was anything but. Not a moment later he activated several formulae, that would override Talos's typical behavior, lowering its threat level to invaders. This was necessary, to fake the delay it would experience, while he removed his core from the colossus.

At the same time, he started the deactivation sequence, which would temporarily paralyze Talos, so he could retrieve his core. It was actually kind of scary for him to be standing here in his new body, which he did not want to lose, should something go wrong, awaiting his own construct to attack him. Hopefully, he will not have to repeat that ever again.

All went according to plan. Talos's hostility levels were lowered and the deactivation sequence was working just as expected, given that the colossus's stride was not as confident as a minute before. It was already upon him, just one more step and he could free his core while pretending to be a great warrior.

Wielding spear was not exactly his forte, a hammer would be preferable, but either way, spear was the weapon he was given. Though was it not sort of cruel to let him "fight" on his own? He was a child after all, or at least his physical body was one, but still, the women, who had the eyes of a warrior, were just observing him from their encampment. Not even the pleas of several men, the worshippers of Lady Arachne, made them move, rather the women prevented the men from helping him.

Though, even if he could feel his heart jumping in his chest like crazy, from all the adrenaline his body was producing in order to prepare for the upcoming battle, he realized that humans not helping him was probably for the best. Because some of them might realize that he was not fighting, but rather pretending. So having some distance between himself and the humans was a good thing.

Talos made one more step forward and finally registered his presence, turning its colossal head towards him. However, the face was not exactly the place he needed since he did not hide his core there. That would be just idiotic, since that was the place humans might try to hit the colossus, thinking it to serve the same purpose as humans.

Well, the Talos was just imitating a human body plan, in order for the humans to take a liking to it. But in truth, the head served no real purpose, except for looking pretty. No the real brain, so to speak, of the colossus was located in its chest, hidden behind many layers of reinforced metallic armor. And that was the exact same place where his core was hiding.

With a shout, he ran towards the colossus because that is what the warriors were usually doing, or at least he imagined they were doing. He was trying to look convincing here while having little to no idea how to really fight. His real target was an ankle of Talos, from there he could draw some of the ichor, before the material sealed itself, preventing the fluid from escaping, while the shutdown sequence should finish, thus resulting in the colossus, apparently falling over to the ground.

He made it barely in time. Talos was already on its way down when he was able to hit it with the spear, bathing in the golden liquid. Hopefully, the onlookers will think that the colossus intended to strike him with its hands, while he nimbly threatened beneath its legs and delivered a fatal blow.

Damaging his invention did not feel so good, but it was necessary, for the sake of his own life. Now all he had to do was to extract his core from Talos and check the logs to see who manipulated with the colossus.

The process was quite easy. Or would have been if he was not suddenly interrupted, by something leaping out of the sea, with a giant explosion of water.
