Chapter 406 - Chapter 405: From Memory Retrieval to VIP Dining

Especially during the conversation, the Aeon of Remembrance even praised March 7th a few times, making her feel completely over the moon.

In the end, it was true that she hadn't recovered her memories yet. But to March 7th, having a goal and a direction was already a huge step forward compared to before, when she was wandering around like a headless fly.

Besides, Pei Guang had said that within the next one or two planets, she'd be able to retrieve her memories. She had already planned it out—once she got them back, she'd show off some of her skills to Pei Guang. She was even curious if her past self had some hidden power like Dan Heng.

After she finished recounting her experience, Pei Guang also explained what had happened on his end. Once they combined their information, March 7th took a sharp breath.

"I never imagined I had such an incredible past! Hmph~ When danger comes, Ah Guang, you can count on me! I'll definitely protect you!"

Seeing her so puffed up with confidence, Pei Guang couldn't help but smile. Even if March 7th was getting a little full of herself, he found it amusing and—frankly—pretty cute.

As for whether she was actually getting ahead of herself? Pei Guang wasn't worried at all. He understood her personality well—sometimes she'd get a little cocky, but just like how she quickly forgot unpleasant things, she'd also forget this feeling of arrogance. By tomorrow, she'd be the same as always, cheerfully living each day. The only difference was that now, she was eagerly looking forward to the next planet—or maybe the one after that.

Compared to before, March 7th finally had something to look forward to. A planet she could call home, reliable companions, and now, a clue leading to her lost memories.

All of this made her smile even brighter.

But before she could enjoy that joyful feeling for long, Fu Xuan walked over.

"Looks like you gained a lot from this experience, March. Do you still need to use the Matrix of Prescience Ultima? If not, I need to organize a team to inspect it. Ugh, if anything happened to the Matrix, I'd be heartbroken!"

As she spoke, Fu Xuan's tone became increasingly anxious. Seeing her like this, Pei Guang suddenly perked up.

"Oh! Our esteemed Master Diviner is going to inspect the Matrix? Do you need to issue me a task? Listen, I can do anything—whether it's repairing an Imperial-class battleship or unclogging a toilet, I've got you covered."

Watching Pei Guang bragging about himself, Fu Xuan chuckled.

"Talking to you always seems to make all my worries disappear… As for issuing a task? If the Matrix of Prescience Ultima really does have a problem, I will find you. And I trust that you'll be able to fix it."

After all, for the past few days, every time she used the Matrix for divination, its responses always made her question reality. Now that the Garden of Recollection and Pei Guang had put the Matrix through such a rough time, if there really was an issue, she'd have to ask Pei Guang for help fixing it.

At that point, she'd probably even have to use the Matrix to divine the Matrix's own fate—whether it was facing good fortune or disaster—and see if it would still keep messing with her.

Hearing Fu Xuan's words, March 7th blinked, then suddenly grabbed Pei Guang and Stelle.

"Alright, we're heading out now~ Ah Guang! Stelle! Let's make a run for it! If something does go wrong, Ah Guang, you're gonna be stuck fixing it again. Today, I'm in a great mood, so whatever you guys want to eat or play—I'm treating!"

Stelle glanced at March 7th skeptically.

"You're treating? …Do you even have enough money?"

March 7th proudly declared, "Back when Ah Guang and Silver Wolf had their match, I bet a lot on Ah Guang winning. Covering a meal is a piece of cake! Besides, you guys helped me a ton this time, so I have to treat you to celebrate! Where should we go? Oh! Let's head to the Garden of Gourmet for a feast!"

Pei Guang: "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go! I never say no to free food!"

Stelle: "Wait, do you never say no to free food, or do you just never say anything smart?"

Fu Xuan, who had been listening in, coughed lightly and reminded them, "Ahem, just a heads-up—wordplay like that will cost you money in Xianzhou."

Stelle: "I'M SORRY!!!!"

March 7th laughed. "In Ah Guang's words, it's called freeloading~ Today, I'm letting you all freeload!"

The three of them left noisily, bickering as they went. Watching their backs disappear, Fu Xuan smiled—only for that smile to freeze when she received feedback from the Matrix of Prescience Ultima.

According to the feedback, while the Matrix wasn't broken, it had accumulated a massive amount of useless data. She had to clear it out before it could be used again.

Fu Xuan sighed. "At least it's just a hassle, not a disaster."

While Fu Xuan busied herself with the Matrix, March 7th led Stelle and Pei Guang to the Garden of Gourmet, one of the most renowned restaurants in the Xianzhou. Normally, an average person would have to wait years for a reservation.

But Pei Guang and the others weren't just anyone. The moment they arrived, the restaurant staff immediately escorted them to a VIP dining room.

For a high-profile restaurant like this, reserving a few private rooms for important guests was standard practice. And who were Pei Guang and his companions? They were guests of General Jing Yuan, saviors of the Xianzhou, and the ones who brought the cure for the Mara-struck.

Of course, they deserved VIP treatment.

Just as they sat down, Pei Guang received a message from Bailu.

Bailu: "Bad news! Bad news! Are you there? Are you there?!"

Pei Guang: "I'm here! I'm at the Garden of Gourmet about to have a meal. Wanna join? March is treating!"

Bailu: "Oh? Free food? Give me a second—wait, no! This is serious!!!"

Pei Guang: "Serious? Like, super urgent? Or can we talk while eating?"

Bailu thought for a moment before replying: "Huh? Actually… I guess it's not that urgent? Okay, wait for me, I'll be there soon! Oh, and order me a skewer of candied hawthorn!"

Noticing Pei Guang texting, March 7th curiously asked, "Hey? Are we about to get busy again?"

Pei Guang shook his head. "Nah, it's just Bailu. She ran into something and decided to come over—oh, and she wants a skewer of candied hawthorn."

Sure enough, just as the candied hawthorn arrived at the table, Bailu rushed in from the Alchemy Commission.

One second before entering, she was thinking about the urgent matter from the Alchemy Commission. But the moment she stepped inside and saw the candied hawthorn on the table, she swallowed nervously.

Seeing her adorable hesitation, March 7th waved her over. "Bailu~ Come on in! Have a seat! Today, I'm treating, so eat to your heart's content!"

Bailu: "Really?! March, you're amazing! How can someone as perfect as you exist?"

Clearly, March 7th enjoyed the flattery. Feeling pleased, she grinned. "Of course! I am the most beautiful girl in the universe, after all."

Bailu grabbed the candied hawthorn and took a big bite. "Mmm~ So good~"

But just as she was savoring it, she suddenly remembered why she was here and quickly put it down.

"No, no, no! Now's not the time to eat! Help me, Ah Guang! Some scoundrel has been releasing dangerous creatures into the Alchemy Commission! Thanks to the Stellaron's influence, they've turned aggressive. The surveillance system is still down, so we have no way of tracking down which bad guy is responsible for this mess!"
