Chapter 2 - Freakish entity

Boom!

A haggard teenager's body could be seen flying out of an explosion, followed by what looked like wolves covered with fire.

Lucas had been fighting for his life and miraculously, he managed to dodge the fatal blows. However, that didn't mean he was fine. There were countless injuries on his body, from a scratch to part of his flesh being taken off.

"Dammit! Even when I'm flying, they still follow me!" he cursed as the pack leader used its domain to create the tornado from before to propel its pack up.

The poor guy used wind to fly up weakly and sent waves of water crashing down to the tornado. This much water should, theoretically, be able to put out 5 of those tornadoes.

But he knew there was more to it. He was still in the pack leader's domain and it could just overwhelm the waves with its fire. This was exactly what he wanted.

As the pack leader unleashed its overwhelming crimson fury, Lucas instantly pulled back the water and used his own domain, even though he wasn't a Master, it didn't mean he couldn't make a domain. He just didn't have time to when he was ambushed.

He maneuvered the wind and fire essence in his body to pour all of their energy into the domain, making a forest fire, but the fire was green, making it more powerful than it already is. He hoped this would burn the wolves and attract the attention of The Little One.

He didn't know that this was also hastening his breakthrough, as breaking through to the Master Plane required good control over elements, which he obviously had, and a full domain.

As he was getting closer to breaking through, his strength was increasing as well.

This meant his fires were also getting hotter, making some of the weaker Fire Wolves burn slightly, as they were not immune to all types and temperatures of fire. The stronger ones also felt an urge to retreat, as they felt a tingling sensation on their skin which got progressively worse.

He felt delighted as the wolves fell for his trick, but at the same time, the adrenaline was the only thing keeping him from fainting. He had been fighting off the pain and suffering from blood loss for some time, and if not treated immediately, he might either fall into a comatose state or die.

The pack leader stared at Lucas, somehow exerting even greater killing intent as it pulled back its fires, leaping at him. It also hurled a hundred fireballs at him, each having enough power to burn him to a crisp in seconds.

However, it was too late. The teenager had already solidified his domain, pushing him to the Master Plane.

His body glowed with a magnificent bright light before crashing down into part of the mountain.

"Hm, he might be in trouble" said William with a concerned expression "Should I call Cori or should I just come with you?"

"Well, it's up to you" answered a calmer voice "You never know what she thinks. Who knows, she might just leave him there for another day. But be quick. I can tell that his condition is not looking good"

"Well, how about you go, Ellis? You're the only one stronger than him, after all" a female voice pointed out "The little girl can get... unstable at times, and she's still recovering from the trauma"

"Fine, don't go after me, if Lucas can't handle it, then nor can any of you" replied Ellis as he flew towards the mountain at the speed of sound

"Also, you guys should visit Cori more. She told me she feels lonely sometimes" shouted a voice far away

Lucas was drifting in and out of consciousness.

He felt heavy but light at the same time.

He could feel the wolf pack leader's attacks hitting him. His clothes were burning, and some of his flesh was no longer there. He even lost control of his right hand completely, as most of the important nerves got burned.

Suddenly, a wave of power poured on him. This was it. He was breaking through, but for what? He was dying anyway, and there was no way he could heal himself, even if he broke through to the Sage Plane.

Still, he hoped for a miracle and accepted the flow of strength with grace.

Meanwhile, on the outside, Lucas was surrounded by a powerful domain, showing deadly aura towards whoever or whatever dared to approach. It scared all the beasts away. He was being protected by Ellis, whose face was covered with sweat as he tried to fend off the wolf pack.

Ellis could be said to be a freakish entity, as he was on the age of Lucas yet was already on the sixth stage of the Master Plane, which is equivalent to the strength of most small clan Elders.

However, in this situation, he was fighting more than a hundred Fire Wolves, with the strongest having the strength of a rank 5 magical beast, although only being in rank 3.

Normally, fighting a magical beast your stage is already hard, as beasts tend to be stronger than their human counterparts. But in this case, Ellis is similar to a Master holding off a Sage, but the Sage is a peak stage genius.

'I need reinforcements' he thought 'But how? I could barely even fight this stupid wolf, and it has hundreds of OP minions!'

In the end, he settled for setting a trap and a barrier while he went to call for reinforcements.

While fighting, he slowly but surely set up the trap and reinforced his domain, draining his energy. Fortunately, the wolf didn't suspect him and thought he was getting exhausted.

The pack leader sensed the trap and destroyed it without a thought. When it turned around, it saw that Ellis has ran away.

In any other case, it would've chased him, but right now, it knew it had to focus on killing Lucas. It shouted to its pack to destroy the domain with it. As it turned around, the area around Ellis' domain exploded, killing a few weak wolves and injuring the rest, including the pack leader. Ellis had set a double trap.
