Chapter 10 - Stakes, Slaves And Slaughters

Every step towards the factory was a heavy one, as a nasty smell enveloped the bloody sea and a faint glow radiated from the top of the building that evaporated into nothingness in less than the blink of eye.

Fannah silently looked at the black bricks of the factory in awe as this was the only building in Al-samash that was made of bricks unlike the buildings made of light and sound, colour and hope, finally there was something ordinary in this magical world but the voice in his head kept getting more and more annoying.

The Divine being continuously made struggles in his mind, trying to tug him away from this somewhat ordinary place, but Fannah kept going on, ignoring the mindless threats of death from the all knowing being.

There was no one at the entrance of the factory, just a faint ray of red light, the child tapped his finger on this ray and a small opening came into view, Fannah looked at the boy for a moment and then went in.

It was nothing out of ordinary, it was the same as it was outside, big broad walls which had turned black with the passing time, a screen of wood where numbers were changing with every second and tall windows that were covered by a layer of thin red light, but there was neither a spirit nor a creature, just an empty wide hall.

"There" The boy said as he gestured towards the deeper side of the wall, Fannah nodded in silence and started walking towards the inner part, all the while ignoring all the threats and wailings from the divine being.

After he walked for a bit, Fannah saw a door made of iron, and above it was a sign board that had something written in a weird language, he stared at it for a moment or two, trying to figure out what it meant but the more he looked at it, the more absurd it became.

"it's most likely written by a lunatic". Fannah thought to himself.

" fannah, let's leave, I beg you, get out of here, we need to find sufiyan" The divine being begged but Fannah did not listen at all and slipped into the room through a gap and hid behind a pillar.

There was a long line of souls from one end to the other end of the hall that seemed to be as vast as a sea, and the souls were kept in line by two thick red chains on either side of these beings, burning these souls to the core if they accidentally grazed their skin with these molten restrictors.

Fannah walked a bit close to the other end of the hall, still covered by the huge pillars. There, on the altar, two giant humans sat , their bodies were burnt and they were covered in chars and scars, their head and neck was sewn together by a white thread, Fannah looked at them with awe as their eyes flared up.

"Disgusting" .

At this moment, a soul came up on the altar, it's body and head bruised with infinite small wounds, and then wordlessly, it fell on its knees, eyes blank like it was void of any pain, the monster flared it's nose and held the soul by head.

"Ugly, load Carrier" The monster said, it's words echoed through the hall.

The other monster, looked at its side and picked a stone, among a sea of them, the first monster tightened it's grip on the soul's head as it's partner, without thinking anything stabbed the stone right into the soul's heart, making it disappear in a milisecond.

A scream left the soul's mouth as the monster let go of it and let it writhe on the altar while screaming in pain and agony, it's eyes leaking blood droplets.

This went on for a few minutes and then the soul fell silent and tried to get up, after a few moments the soul finally stood on its two legs again, the monster twisted its hand and another scream left the soul's mouth as a splash of black blood came from its mouth and it's body was completely healed.

The monster held the soul's hand and threw it in the pool of pearls.

"My, my mother is not here". The boy said, his voice laced with horror.

" It's okay, we will find her somewhere else". Fannah whispered and then put his hand on the boy's mouth to stop him from talking.

"fannah, let's leave here". The divine being urged in his mind.

" Let me find his mother first, I promise you, I will hand him over to his mother and then we will leave". He promised as he exited the room and started looking around.

But his hands were shaking and his eyes were glistening with something akin to tears, even though he was not crying, but his steps were slower this time, with a shaky breathing Fannah stopped in front of another door, the darkness in the hall, swallowing his being as the boy's grip on his neck tightened.

The door was the same as the one they had been to earlier, it also had a sign board on the top, but this time the characters looked different, even though it still didn't make sense.

Fannah took a deep breathe and slipped into the room, and just like earlier hid behind a pillar to see what was going on.

This room was different, there were no lines of soul's or an altar but there were two monsters just like the one's earlier, sitting on the altar, grinding stones lay on it.

"This one is normal".

Fannah thought but at this time, the monster picked the top stone and blew on the bottom stone, and then grabbed a handful of souls from down the altar and put it on the bottom stone, making Fannah's eyes go wide in horror before he shut his eyes as tears rolled down his cheeks.

" That's my Mother". The boy said gesturing towards the grinding stone, making Fannah open his eyes again.

At this time, the monster put the top stone back in its place again and the two monster's started walking in circles, moving the grinding stones slowly and drops of yellow liquid started falling into the pipe that was connected to the two grinding stones and then it slowly went into the huge container bound with the wall.

"Mot__" The boy tried to scream but Fannah clamped his hand over the boy's mouth once again and started running out, he did not think of anything but shut his eyes down and sprinted towards the door they came in from.

The boy struggled, trying to bite Fannah's hand to free himself and run to his mother but he did not budge and tightened his grip on the boy's body, once they were outside at the exit, Fannah opened the boy's hand and made him touch the red light and ran out as fast as he could, his breathing became harsh and he felt like he was being choked as tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.

After some time Fannah finally stopped near the rock where he had found this wolf cub earlier, he put the boy down and started wiping down his tears.

"My mother" The boy cried, his blue eyes shining with horror and anger.

"We can't do anything, she is gone". Fannah screamed crying, letting put his fear and frustration, "But I promise, I will protect you and take you out of this place, okay so stop".

After a few moments, Fannah came out of his shock and turned to the divine being in his mind.

"Didn't I tell you no one comes back from there, you crazy lunatic" The divine being yelled in anger.

"Wha.. What was that place?" Fannah asked in horror.

"city Centre".

" What?"

"The first place you entered was the slave centre, they heal the souls and make them into slaves for the upperclassmen of the Al-samash world and the next one was the soul energy extractor__ anyway it's a bad place so let's get out of here please". The divine being explained.

"What's the soul extractor?" fannah asked.
