Chapter 816 - Chapter 916: Ambition

[Chapter 916: Ambition]

It was unclear whether Jack Ma was carried out or simply kicked out. The situation sounded quite humorous; one could easily mistake it for something out of a web novel.

"Fu Zhen, did we take things a bit too far?"

Taking advantage of someone while pretending to be charming was truly bothersome. However, the four-star princess didn't seem to care too much. The scoundrel did manage to keep this romantic situation from becoming too embarrassing.

"Honestly, I've never seen anyone so thick-skinned. I mean it, this can't go on."

"Alright, alright, I was just watching, okay?"

During an inspection of Lanai Island, an unexpected twist happened... He seriously didn't know what word to use, so he thought since they were all adults, it was better to just put it plainly.

Many things in this world revolved around the idea of who was getting the better end of the deal, and sometimes everyone got hustled.

Cough, this line of thinking wasn't really wrong. The point was, as long as it wasn't forced and made sense, it should be accepted rationally.

What? A player!

William White had never considered himself a good person, so his moral standards were relatively low.

"Fu Zhen, why did you come to Lanai Island alone? Doesn't your dad worry about you getting snatched away?"

"Alright, enough about that. Someone is washing those clothes."

Seeing a gorgeous woman helping him wash his undergarments made William White feel a bit guilty. His previous two housekeepers had done the same, but that had quickly stopped.

To be honest, if those little hands got ruined, it would be a big loss.

"Hmph, are you really giving your intimate clothing to a hotel laundry?"

William White wanted to tell her, "What are you kidding? My stuff is taken care of by a dedicated staff, no way I'd hand it over to strangers."

"Just don't ruin those little hands. It's nice and delicate."

Fu Zhen shot him a glance, showing no signs of stopping.

William White felt a bit reflective; the education in South Korea was astounding. Even if you were a four-star princess, knowing how to serve your partner was a required skill.

People always said that the focus on boys over girls did not truly exist. One's social status depended on income and education level. In the large coastal cities, the income gap between genders was significantly smaller, eventually becoming almost negligible.

Since incomes were comparable, and women had to have children, the party that bore more family responsibilities naturally had more authority.

South Korea was different; their societal standards were much stranger. It wasn't just about unequal pay; it was wholly distinct from that.

In households with a couple and two adult children, during meals, the father and son would eat first. Only after they were finished would the women get their turn.

No kidding, this was a widespread phenomenon. Why was My Sassy Girl so popular? Because the whole premise was a fantasy, which couldn't possibly happen in South Korea. That had to be a scriptwriter losing their mind.

"Did you have a conflict with that guy?"

Fu Zhen laughed bitterly; no matter how capable she was, her father wouldn't regard it highly. Looking at this man, who always got her father into tricky situations, she couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

"Let's not talk about the unhappy things. I came out here, and no one knows. I just needed to clear my head. I don't care; I'm feeling down, so you have to cheer me up."

William White smiled slightly; in his memory, this princess had been with a total loser, hadn't she? But yesterday when he walked in, that relationship seemed fairly fresh -- those little marks confirmed that it was still quite new.

"Cough, fine. Seriously though, if you didn't have that dad of yours, I would have kept you around.

How about this? I could just take you away."

"Don't joke around. They say you're a notorious flirt. Looks like the rumors were true."

"Cough, they got me wrong. I am a very traditional person; well, maybe a little traditional."

Fu Zhen sighed; as the princess of the Li family, many things weren't fully under her control. If her brother learned about this, it would be a big headache.

This version of four-star was not the one William White was familiar with.

Nor was it about what he wanted; frankly, they were just digging their own graves. If they had accepted his investment a bit sooner, many unpleasant things wouldn't have occurred later on.

Their overall power had declined, yet their family drama stayed the same. In fact, it might even have become more intense from a certain point of view.

"Fu Zhen, go back and tell your father you plan to start your own business."

"What? You're joking. I'm not giving up my share."

"Come on, why don't you listen? Your family's drama could seriously be a long-running soap opera. Honestly, you don't have to do anything; just turn your family's business into a novel, and it'll make you tons of money."

"Hmph, lame idea. I've never thought about betraying my family."

"Come on, think it over. It's a long-term plan. You know they call me a business guru in South Korea. Tell me what you like, and I can help you design a business plan.

Fu Zhen, you know, it's just business. And you, well, you don't quite fit into the business mold."

Fu Zhen felt puzzled; it felt surreal. This man in front of her was both familiar and strange. She couldn't make sense of how the Flirt from last night suddenly turned into someone so gentle and attentive.

Hmm, and also a bit bossy and unreasonable. He was a monster with quite a split personality.

"Well, let me think about it. I want to go play golf; come along."

"Are you sure?" William White looked her over, sensing something was off. You know, the recovery seemed to be pretty quick.

"Ugh, if I stay locked up indoors, I'd be worse off in no time."

William White chuckled; he had indeed been a little reckless lately, attracting too many romantic complications. He had come to Lanai Island under the pretense of an inspection to relax, yet ended up drawing another one in.

Damn it, it must be the peach tree by the villa that was planted poorly. Right, he needed to have it uprooted when he got back.

"You're saying Fu Zhen went to Lanai Island?"

"Yes, President. Should we bring her back?"

"No, let her take a breather. Unfortunately, she's just a woman."

Li Jianxi could make such a statement, but his subordinates had no convenience to voice their opinions. Just like ancient court politics, heir positions were never handed off to others.

No matter how weak or inept this emperor was, no one could interfere. Yue Pengju didn't understand this truth and ended up facing dire consequences.

Those who held military power naturally drew suspicions, just like the Zhao family had climbed to power. You commanded the military yet chose to offer opinions on the crown prince.

Ah, what a pity that was.

The welcoming of the two saints was even more ridiculous; it was better to speak of reclaiming past territories. If the two saints returned, how would the current emperor deal with that?

"President, should we send some people to look after the young lady? She's unfamiliar with the area and it's a pain to get food here."

"No need. If we're talking about a place with food from all over the world, there is no doubt that Lanai Island is the best.

Did you know their cabbage is prepared in royal style? I've never even tasted it."

"Cough, that guy is indeed extravagant."

"Ha, you think so too? Well, let's not discuss extravagance; we wouldn't want to be laughed at. Just know that Lanai Island makes a ton of money, alright?
