Jacquelyn ran after the girl, holding the maid's dress close to her chest, but when she got to the balcony, there was nobody there. Not even the girl's body on the ground covered in blood, as Jacquelyn had expected. All she saw was a black bat almost flying too close to her face, but she shooed it away.
"Where did she go?" Jacquelyn muttered, looking down at the dress the girl had given her to hold. "I should have told her that the man who kissed me and Kael are the same person. Does that mean I should avoid both?" the princess asked herself. She couldn't help but think about the few minutes she had spent with this strange vampire girl.
