Above the burned-out shell of the Wendigo Inn, four Mothmen hover. Probably the same ones that abducted Daji and me in our dreams.
I gaze up into their eyes, glowing like lit cigar ends or brake lights in their dark insectoid/avian faces. They look like the nightmare version of insectoid action figures I used to play with as a child.
"We told you that you would destroy the inn," they say in an eerie chorus like the Borg from Star Trek. "We were proven right. You should have listened to us."
"F*ck you!"
I don't use profanity often, even for shock value. I think it loses its effectiveness if every other word out of someone;'s mouth is profanity. Besides, my parents don't approve, and Daji definitely doesn't.
"DAJI," I shout. "DAJI! WHERE ARE YOU?"
