A frown creased Adam's brows as he glanced at Behemoth and Mimi. How could this man spout so many embarrassing flatteries on a first meeting?
"Don't listen to this dork." Mimi cracked her knuckles, a dangerous glint flashing in her eyes. "If others refused divine contracts, he is the exception. Even gods didn't want to deal with his constant bullshit."
"Hey!" Lord 6369 ruffled his long Victorian coat, leaning back with a wronged expression. "You just take this whole masquerade way too seriously. Look at me. I never really cared."
His lips curled into a mysterious smile, mana igniting in his gray eyes. "Or did I? You know the saying: to fool your enemies, you must fool your allies first. Let me reintroduce myself. I'm known as Lord 6369, but I prefer Michael."
Adam nodded, not entirely sure what he'd do with this oddball. Still, if Mimi and Behemoth vouched for him, why not?
