In early September, at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa, which was also the venue for the 2010 World Cup, the WBO Light Heavyweight Championship title fight was held, and the contestants were WBA-WBC-IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Link and black Canadian boxer Adonis Stevenson.
Stevenson, 35 years old this year, was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and later immigrated to Canada. He entered the professional boxing ring in 2006, and has since participated in 18 professional matches.
With a current record of 17 wins and 1 loss, in the WBO Light Heavyweight Championship qualifier held in May, Stevenson technical knocked out Don George in the twelfth round, thus earning the right to compete for the WBO World Championship title.
Stevenson, nicknamed 'Superman', stands at 180 cm tall with a reach of 183 cm, and is a heavy-hitter. He has won 13 out of his 18 matches by knockout.
