The author of the script was Damien Chazelle, a director, an amateur musician, and also the screenwriter of the future film "La La Land," which would earn Emma Stone an Oscar for Best Actress.

Contained in the script was the author's shooting plan, which estimated that only three million US Dollars would be needed to produce the film.
