Sun Wukong's face suddenly changed. Although Tathagata's words appeared to be humiliating Sun Wukong, Sun Wukong discerned much from them. Tathagata believed that Sun Wukong was still ignorant of everything, so he was convinced that even if he spoke of these matters, Sun Wukong would not understand them, and using something incomprehensible to the other party as a means of humiliation was a very gratifying thing. Sun Wukong was almost certain that Tathagata knew some things, and probably knew even more than Sun Wukong had imagined. Fortunately, he had restrained the impulse to strike, or else if he had carelessly obliterated Tathagata, Sun Wukong would have had no way of learning these things.
