Chapter 245 - 26

Even pocketed, I could practically feel the way my magic seemed to twist and contort itself around the wand I'd won. Before slowly and surely, seemingly ingratiating the wand itself to me, as my magic seeped through it almost harmoniously.

I could practically touch the veritable storm that filled me- Which was a step up as I hadn't been able to bloody notice it before.

Evidently, my magic seemed to agree with the wand- In that it found it compatible enough not to burn it to ash out of insult. Though... Even with a wand that had been at the beck and call of someone as... Chaotic as Tom Riddle for a crap ton of decades- It wasn't enough. I knew it, innately, that the wand would, at some point in the future, fail me. Would at some point simply break out of the extortion placed on it.

I idly eyed Dumbledore, the man had been rather lost for words from the moment he'd appeared, even as McGonogall's attention shifted between me and the dragons, as her expression shifted from joy at my potential to been resigned at, what I presumed was, what she could actually teach me that'd be worthwhile.

Transfirguation could do a lot- But even I'd be hard pressed trying to use it to trump putting five bloody dragons to sleep. Let alone scaring off a Dark Lord and Zeus-striking the daddy of all dragons.

That fucker had been big.

Like I'd call it Clifford if it weren't for the inevitable lawsuit.

I am willing to fight Dark Lords and dragons but fuck poking the copyright police with a stick.

"Sirius, what did you..." McGonogall started, a disbelieving expression on her face. "Do to the dragons?"

"I put 'em to sleep." I shrugged in response, electing to walk towards the closed Hogwarts doors, the deputy not missing a beat as she took in the situation itself properly before opening said doors.

"We... will have more words on this later." She settled on, her gaze turning towards the multitude of wizards and witches apparating in.

I nodded easily and made to walk through before I practically felt the sudden tug of magic that reached out of the Headmaster towards my newly acquired wand.

With a frown, I promptly pocketed my hand and wrapped my fingers around said wand in a vice grip, my magic practically washing out the attempt as Albus Dumbledore, very briefly, stiffened.

Turning my gaze towards him, I raised an eyebrow at the man.

He opened his mouth to speak, McGonogall's attention taken over by the hounds of what I presumed where Ministry Aurors.

I had a feeling I was probably going to get hounded by quite a bit following my stunt- Though I had a feeling my father was just as likely to nip most of the attention in the bud- Fucker definitely saw what had gone down, that was for sure.

If there was one certainty regarding the Black family that I knew off- Besides the fact we all eventually end up insane that was- I mean I certainly already was, even if my parents refused to have me checked for a confirmation. Either way, that other certainty?

My fucked up family had a bad habit of spying on me-

No one more so than my father and demented cousin.

I idly wondered how Bellatrix was doing?

The last I'd heard from her, in person anyway, was about a year ago. She'd been offered the chance to join something great- Read Death Eaters- Before she'd hexed off the recruiting party's dicks and told them to go fuck themselves with 'em.

Truly, Bellatrix had a way with words, and her wand for that matter.

I wonder if she ever got the howler I'd rerouted from grandfather-

"-nd is dangerous," I eventually turned my focus back towards the headmaster.

Apparently he'd been speaking.

Whoops.

He let out a sigh as he calmly took a few steps towards me.

I shrugged in responce.

"Still need a wand- And it's the only one that hasn't immediately exploded following usuge- So thanks for helping me test that out!" I winked at him.

He literally just stopped on his feet and kept staring at me.

"What? Would you prefer I didn't have a focus to channel magic through? 'Cos let me tell you, the Black Manor's insuranceis hella expensive for a reason!"

And before he could really say anything else on the matter I was promptly saved by my least likeliest ally.

Politics.

Evidently the useless fuckers in the ministry wanted to have a word with ole' Dumbles about the dragons he'd put to sleep.

I shook my head.

Talk about misogyny. Minerva McGonogall was more than capable of putting a few reckless dragons to bed- Hell, she could probably do it with her gaze alone!

With a sound of exasperation behind me, from the aforementioned professor, I calmly slipped inside the castle- The Ministry not paying me any more mind than they would a child.

You know, besides grilling the headmaster on why children were allowed out and about with a dark wizard, several dragons and... Wait, that was it. Yeah, with those two on the loose.

Needless to say, I definitely wasn't prepared for the sudden, rather tight, hug that awaited me the moment I'd reached the main hall.

"What the hell where you thinking!?" Andromeda called out, her fingers literally digging into me from the hug, while Narcissa was just staring at me, entirely unimpressed.

"That was stupid." The blonde remarked, frowning, as she crossed her arms. "Verystupid..."

"...Winning?" I remarked the moment Andromeda seemed to get a hold of her senses and stopped choking the life out of me with affection as she pulled herself back, her gaze a rictus of pride and fear of all things, albeit still kneeling on one knee.

I promptly nodded.

"I was thinking of winning."

"...You attacked six dragons and a dark wizard with paper." The older Black deadpanned towards me. "Cissy's right, that was very stupid of you!"

Goddamnit even Andromeda's spying on me!

I put a hand to my chest in mock offence, completely ignoring her eye roll.

"I'll have you know it was just insanity!Cissy might not be able to tell the difference between that and stupidity but I expect better from you!" I deadpanned, pointing a finger towards the almost-of-age witch.

"...How is that any better?" Narcissa questioned after a moment- Andromeda looked like she was holding herself back from laughing or strangling me for some reason.

"Well, if I was stupid, I would've stayed inside the castle with the rest of you clowns and prayed for the best." I shrugged, earning a visible twitch from both of them. "If I wasn't insane however- Paper, bullshit and thunder strikes would've never worked against the daft fucker." I grinned at both of them.

Truth to be told, I am pretty sure half my success had come from the fact that Tom Riddle evidently just didn't have a fucking clue on what to expect from his invasion.

Andromeda promptly slapped me upside the head and got back into choking me with familial affection.

I was really glad Bellatrix wasn't around. Her form of worried affection might actually kill me.

Needless to say, that was the moment I finally noticed the sea of much older students stood all around the hall, a few still coming through the multitude of doors, all of them just staring at me, in thinly-veiled shock and apprehension.

Well, nearly all of them.

The Gryffindor section- Atleast some of the older years, looked smug as all hell for some reason.

Evidently it was a year six and above party for some reason- Though no one had bothered telling my blonde cousin she wasn't invited. Bloody party crasher, no shame-

That time, Narcissa chose to slap me upside the head.

Bloody hell, you save these hooligans and the only thing you get out of it is a headache.

I should've just let Tom take over the castle.

At least that fucker might've treated me with more respect!
