Chapter 165 - Chapter 162 - The Breaking Point.

Baldwin's Mansion

The mansion was wrapped in an unsettling silence, with grand chandeliers casting a soft, dim light over the opulent decor. The air felt heavy, almost suffocating, charged with a tension that sent shivers down the spines of the men gathered in the room. Each of them stood armed, tense, ready-yet not a single one dared to make a move.

At the very center of it all stood Savannah.

Her chest heaved with deep, erratic breaths, hands shaking as she aimed the gun straight at Blaze.

Her husband.

The man she had loved with every fiber of her being.

The man she had trusted completely.

The man who had shattered her soul into a million pieces.

Blaze faced her, his usual calm and unreadable demeanor intact, even with the gun aimed at his chest. His stormy black eyes were locked onto hers—intense and unwavering, but devoid of fear.

Not even a hint of it.

Savannah's grip on the trigger tightened, her knuckles turning white, her bloodshot eyes aflame with pain and betrayal.

"Why?" Her voice trembled, barely a whisper, yet it resonated through the vast hall like a death knell.

Blaze took a slow, measured step towards her.

Savannah instinctively stepped back.

"Don't." Her voice cut through the air, sharper than before, trembling yet laced with a silent warning.

Blaze stopped, his hands remaining at his sides. He didn't raise them in surrender, didn't plead or make excuses-just stood there, watching her.

The weight of the last few days pressed down on Savannah's chest like a heavy iron cage, making it hard to breathe.

Everything Anastasia had revealed, all the truths she had fought to deny, were now glaring at her through the eyes of the man she once believed was her everything.

Her breath came in quick gasps, her heart thudding violently against her ribcage.

Tears threatened to spill over as she fought to keep them at bay.

She didn't want to cry.

She didn't want to feel anything at all.

But how could she possibly shut it out?

Memories of their life together flashed through her mind—the love, the tenderness, the way he always looked at her as if she were the center of his universe.

And now, she was left questioning what had been real.

Or if any of it had ever been.

Blaze took a cautious step forward.

Savannah instinctively took a step back.

Her body trembled, her legs feeling like they might give way at any moment.

"I might as well die too," she whispered, and before Blaze could react, she turned the gun on herself.

Gasps filled the room, creating a tense atmosphere.

The sound of safety latches clicking off from every guard echoed through the mansion, their fingers twitching nervously over their triggers.

But Blaze...

Blaze remained still.

His expression shifted ever so slightly. His jaw tightened, and his eyes darkened—not out of fear, but from something much deeper.

"Ana." His voice was dangerously low and controlled, yet there was an unmistakable edge to it.

Savannah's breath caught in her throat.

For the first time, she noticed a flicker in his gaze—something raw, something that almost resembled pain.

But it didn't matter.

None of it mattered.

Her finger hovered over the trigger, her vision blurring as she whispered, "Tell me the truth, Blaze... or I swear, I'll pull it."

Two Months Before - The Return Home

The airport buzzed with activity as Savannah made her way through the crowd, her small suitcase trailing behind her. The comforting scent of home, the hum of conversations from fellow travelers, and the warm air that enveloped her as she approached the exit all combined to ease her heart.

But it wasn't just the thought of being home that brought her comfort.

It was the man waiting right in front of her.

Blaze.

There he stood, looking sharp in a black button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, radiating his usual blend of authority and calm. Yet, the moment his eyes locked onto hers, that trademark composure of his melted away.

A smile broke across Savannah's face, and without a moment's hesitation, she picked up her pace, nearly jogging toward him.

Blaze barely had time to react before she threw her arms around him, holding him tightly as if she had been away for months instead of just a week.

As soon as she was in his embrace, he exhaled a breath he hadn't even realized he was holding.

He had missed her so much.

His strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her close, as he breathed in her familiar scent.

The warmth of her, the essence of her—everything about her presence soothed a restlessness inside him that had lingered since the day she left.

Savannah leaned back a bit, gazing up at him, her bright eyes sparkling with joy. Blaze took a moment to really take her in—her face, the rosy glow on her cheeks, and the weariness that lingered just beneath her smile. There was something different about her.

But before he could figure it out, he spoke.

"How are you feeling?" Blaze asked gently, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from her face.

Savannah blinked, as if she were mulling over the question. After a brief pause, she let out a soft laugh.

"Feeling so much loved right now," she confessed, her radiant smile growing even wider.

Blaze's heart swelled in the best way.

He wasn't always the best at expressing himself like others did. But Savannah—hisAna—understood him.

She always did.

He gave a slight smirk, tightening his hold around her waist. "Let's get you home then... and shower you with even more love," he murmured, his voice low and full of meaning.

Savannah's cheeks warmed, but she didn't break eye contact with him.

This was home.

Not the city. Not the mansion. Him.

With one last lingering look, they both turned and walked side by side and hand in hand, leaving the airport and stepping into the car that was waiting for them outside.

The ride home was serene. Blaze held her hand the whole time, his thumb gently tracing circles on the back of it. Savannah leaned her head against the window, stealing glances at him now and then, feeling something awaken deep in her chest.

Something warm. Something bittersweet.

Something she wasn't quite ready to explore yet.

Because right now, all that mattered was that she was home.

With him.
