A sudden, deep shout interrupted my heavenly mound inspection. It came from Sunscar, but the force with which this individual bellowed easily carried his voice to us.
"DIE, LIONKIN SCUM! GRAAAH!! FOR KARGRIM!"
Even from this distance, the voice rang clear: gravelly, furious, and full of bearkin bloodlust. The siege had begun, and with it, the rumble of distant battle stirred the air.
I blinked, distracted just for a second, but it was enough for her.
In one fluid motion, Vex slipped from my arms like a slippery fish. With a soft splash, she dove straight into the bath, submerging herself fully beneath the steaming water. Only her bright eyes peeking above the surface like some ancient, white-haired swamp creature could be seen.
Our gazes met. Hers was a mixture of embarrassment and mischievous glee, cheeks puffed just slightly from holding in her breath, trying to hide her grin like a guilty schoolgirl who got away with sneaking the last cookie.
