Chapter 35 - Banished

Leah rushes home and doesn't stop until she sees Seth right in front of her.

(Seth! Are you okay? Did you get hurt?) she asks frantically.

(I'm fine, a couple of vamps showed up but we took care of everything without issue, what about you guys? How did the fight go? We heard Jake's howl,) asked Seth worriedly.

Brady butts in, (You should have seen him, the bastard pretended to be hurt bad, tricking one of them, hell all of us,) he said glaring at Seth, still a bit ticked off.

Seth looks away sheepishly.

(If you thought he was in trouble, why didn't you howl?) Asked Quil, having been there since earlier after getting Embry back, who was off healing in the woods not wishing his mother to see him in that state.

(Didn't think of it,) said Brady looking away.

(Didn't think of it huh, even after hearing Jakes?) Quil pressed, irritated that the refuge could have been put at risk because they forgot to howl for help.

Guilt welling up, Brady and Colin stared at the ground, unable to retort.

(Back off Quil, he said he didn't think of it, shit happens, they're still young,) said Leah, coming to their defense.

Quil snorts dissatisfied, walking away.

(Ignore him, you three did good but you can't be forgetting something so important,) said Leah.

(We're sorry,) Collin sniffed.

(What about the battle, what happened?) asked an impatient Seth.

(We won, and I got the bitch, Seth, I got her,) she said, wagging her tail. Seth did the only thing he could do and howled triumphantly, much to Quil's annoyance.

They went home afterward sharing the good news with their mom and having a happy cry about it before sleeping for the night.

Their mom left early for work the next morning, leaving them a hearty breakfast.

Seth slaps his head, "I forgot to bury the dogs."

"Bury the dogs? What dogs?" questioned Leah, swallowing a bite.

"The vamps that showed up killed some of the dogs before we could get there," Seth explained.

"Please tell me they didn't get Chipper, I don't know what Dean would do if he died," said Leah.

Seth lowers his head and Leah's heart drops, he then looks back up with a grin and says, "He's fine."

She angrily threw her fork at him, "Don't scare me like that."

He laughed dodging the utensil.

"When did you become such a little ass, I'm telling Dean when he gets back," said Leah.

His laughter died, "Wha, Leah don't," he pleaded.

"Yes," said Leah.

Finishing their meals, they argued a bit more before Seth had to leave for school.

It was late morning when Dean showed up, feeling stronger than ever, his strength having increased by leaps and bounds. For the first time, he felt like he could wipe out all vamps given enough time.

"Morning, interested in a meal, or is what you ate good enough?" asked Leah unsure of his dietary needs given the situation.

"I could use a real meal," said Dean, sitting at the table as Leah readied him a plate.

Sitting across from him, she watches as he slowly eats his food.

"Something on your mind?" asks Dean.

She shakes her head at first but asks, "Now that the major threat is gone, what will we do now?"

He swallows his bite, "Same as before, we train and prepare for the next threat, and come Bella's transformation day we wipe out the Cullens."

"I see," she said, falling silent.

"I was also thinking we'd get married soon," said Dean.

"How soon?" questioned Leah, her mind already running a mile a minute of everything that would have to be done.

"Within the week if you're up for it, I see no reason to delay it further, in my mind we're already married given that you're my mate, but I figured you and more importantly your mother would want an actual wedding to commemorate it," said Dean.

"You figured right," she said, glossing over the more important comment for he wasn't necessarily wrong given the circumstance, "I'll talk to my mom this evening and we'll decide how to proceed," said Leah, she then left to call Emily and Kim to go over things.

Taking that as his queue to leave, Dean headed out, he had a ring to commission.

.

The next few days were filled with the giddy girls talking amongst themselves, planning everything they needed or wanted.

Meanwhile, Dean was left with the task of punishing Jake, who was all healed up, and reprimanding some young wolves who made him feel like a fool for trusting them.

At first, he was all for tearing into Jake and ripping him apart, but the guy was so down and out of it of late, he couldn't bring himself to do it.

All the adult wolves gathered to see punishment dealt, minus Leah who now had more important things to concern herself with.

(Jake, for choosing an outsider over your tribe, for howling while we were amid battle and putting others further at risk, you are hereby banished from our lands, you have the rest of the day to get your business in order,) said Dean authoritatively.

(I, I understand,) said a defeated Jake, turning away.

(Jake,) Embry called, only to be cut off by Quil, who shook his head.

(Let him go, he needs to deal with this on his own,) said Quil.

(But he's our friend,) argued Embry.

(And that's why we must do this, or he'll never learn,) said Quil.

(I don't like it,) said Embry discontentedly.

(You don't have to, come on, let's get something to eat,) said Quil.

(I'm not hungry,) grumbled Embry.

(What about some ice cream and games to take our minds off things,) said Quil.

(Okay,) Embry sighed.

(I also don't like it but I agree with Quil,) said Sam once they left.

(Had to be done,) said Jared.

(He got off easy,) Paul sneered.

(It could have been much worse if he didn't look so pathetic already,) Dean explained.

(Rachel won't be happy,) said Paul reflectively.

(Oh, Rachel huh,) said Jared suggestively.

If wolves could blush, Paul's would be bright red, (I just meant with the wedding and all coming up, and he's suddenly not here, she'll be asking questions.)

(Uh huh, questions you'll be eager to answer no doubt,) Jared teased.

(Fuck you,) said an embarrassed Paul, running away.

They all had a good laugh at that.

(Damn, never thought I'd see the day, good thing Jake isn't going to be around for that, otherwise it would be one bloody wedding,) said Jared.

(Speaking of, Dean, Jared and I would like to ask you a question,) said Sam with Jared stepping closer for moral support.

(I'm all ears,) said Dean.

(I'm sure the girls are hashing things out, but it was left to me to talk to you,) said Sam, peaking Deans interest, (Would you be okay with Emily and I, and then Jared and Kim to get married respectively after you?)

(Hm, if Leah's fine with it, I don't see why not,) said Dean.

(Great!) said Sam, tail wagging along with Jared.
