Chapter 4 - Chapter 1: Verse IV

VERSE IV

*Devils- beings without sentience, living with their predatory instinct, Eat to survive.

Escaping from the depths of hell, this world was ravaged with them. And with the addition of supernaturals, it got even worse.

The two legendary rank Supernaturals, Gifted and Ungifteds. The unrestrained rank in the human realm.

Feeling like a cheat to attain godhood, that was this power.

Ungifteds had a strong con. A con that could jeopardize their entire life.

Ungifteds can be taken care of when young, as soon as their powers are about to bloom. It is done this way as it is the only way to delete their supernaturalism. To delete their invincibility to superpowers, and this invincibility had a core in the Ungifteds.*

It happened in a flash, ending as quick as it began. Sudden silence fell upon the environment, and the cool wind blew against them in the face of the sun.

Split in half, each body part fell before her whilst her astonishment.

Confusion was stirred up within her, as she couldn't explain such an unnatural intervention.

She looked upon her herself, she was made whole and healed even to a better state. She gazed upon her left hand. It was endowed in a sort of golden aura blade.

Eyes wide open, mouth trying to make out words for what was before her, she was surprised.

She just split a high class devil in two.

A four headed devil that can take on a state and a region.

Lying before her, it was in half. Dead!.

She looked up to the sun and saw it, perhaps a description of the activity that was acted out before her.

In the air, unusual letter characters in sentences laced with divine power were written across- before her.

Holding her brother in her right arm, she discovered that she could decipher these sentences, and she read it slowly.

" My child, your call in desperation has been answered.

The tribulations you face would be no more with the power I have unlocked within you.

I always love you child,

Humble goddess, Benzaitan."

She couldn't believe it, she wished for this everyday. But now this was before her, she couldn't accept the reality.

Tears slowly welled up in her eyes, flowing across her face slowly.

Not tears of pain, was it... Tears of redemption, or hope in the dark?.

She couldn't bring herself to justify this moment.

In a spur, she thought of her brother's state.

" Faithful goddess ". She cried out, her throat beginning to ache. Her youthful voice, crashed under the pressure of her pain.

" My brother, please save my brother."

Her heart ached. She can't let her brother die.

With each panting breath she took, the fear inside her moments ago had turned into sorrow and compassion.

Her mouth watery with her saliva, as she held in her desperation to heal her brother.

There was no answer, though she felt the goddess presence around her.

Her eyes began to wane, when the healing delayed. Still no answer from her, Yuki shook her head in agony.

" Won't you heal him?!!". She dropped the honorifics, with only her brother in mind.

" I can heal him, but the damage on his soul has already been done." She heard Benzaitan's voice for the first time in her life.

So cool and warming, a voice that could instantly ease away pain and make a mortal drift into eternal rest. That's the voice she had, with compassion intwined in her tone.

" Damage?... On his Soul?". Curiosity etched with innocence in Yuki's voice was evident.

" Yes, and it cannot be undone.". The goddess voice rafted through Yuki's ears.

" It seems, Lady Amaterasu did this for a reason. "

The name she heard jolted her into sudden fury and questions began to stir through her. She was about to ask when the next statement from the goddess made her keep her mouth shut.

" You don't have much mental strength. I'll explain when you become of age." The goddess Benzaitan stated, instantly Kato was healed. He was still unconscious but Yuki smiled at him.

Her eyes caught the marks on his body and face.

The holes where Yonikaharu had drilled into Kato's body, had healed up but turned into an ugly blackish purple mark.

" I'm always with you dear, When you are troubled let me know.". And Benzaitan's presence could be felt no longer.

The last statement of assurance was heart warming.

She stood up with her brother in her arms. Taking slow steps to their home, she felt a tingling sensation inside her.

Her mind began to race through different thoughts, thinking what type of ability does she have?.

Her uncle would know this ability with just a glance, so she needs to wait before he gets back.

He normally works in the town as a night shift museum guard. The only museum in the town of the high class, and it being the only museum has a lot of history records and artifacts past ten thousand years old. Materials said to be used by gods existed there, and those materials would and did not recognise any as their owner. Relics with sentience, seeping and emanating profound energy.

She gazed down at her brother. He would be devastated at the new non removable scars he had.

Yonikaharu, that kid said he would be going to Sect 1 due to his supernatural ability, A Gifted.

With his existence, he is highly important especially in this race of constant competition between the kingdom.

Even if a person is successful in killing him,it would be a brutal torment and execution if that culprit is found.

She began roll through different powers, gifteds mostly had or usually unlocked first.

To decipher what ability was used, then she recalled what the goddess Benzaitan had said.

The name she mentioned—GODDESS AMATERASU—

That's crazy, so that means one of his awakened powers is the indefinite communication to all deities of existence and without restriction too.

Her feet feeling and embracing the soft grass beneath her, she let out a sigh. Then her face squeezed at a sudden realization.

Why exactly did Amaterasu almost kill her brother? And she targeted vital areas that could easily kill a person.

She quickened her pace, with short strides she began running—running towards home.

She needs to read the scrolls at home, the history texts about the supernatural of the world and different kingdoms.

She began to hate the Goddess Amaterasu, and that hate was growing fast. Now, she didn't blame the kid. Maybe all those times he bullied Kato, he was being ordered. But why would a pristine goddess do such a thing?. To damn innocent kid?.

She looked at her brother's face, he was breathing now but still unconscious. She shook her head quickening her pace.

Amaterasu Omikami, the Supreme goddess of the Shinto realm, said to be born from Izanagi when he washed one of his eyes.

The Supreme Kami in Shintoism, just what and why?.

Questions and she needed answers, just why?.

She began to recall the statements Kato often told her about his distrust in deities. They never actually came to humanity's aid unless a catastrophic event occured that wiped out seventy percent of humanity.

Infact, Kato often said the best deities to trust in are devils. Why?, because one can trust them to actually do the evil and cause destruction. What about the so call divinities, they just wait till the destruction has a reached a level good enough and they come in aid. For what, all to look like a hero!.

She found herself actually agreeing to her brother's statements for the first time in years, cause the phenomenon that occured just now.

Goddess Benzaitan cannot just mistakenly mentioned her Supreme's name without a plausible cause.

She finally reached home, the grey paint on the wall had already begun peeling off but she shoved that thought aside.

Entering the hallway, her feet got hurt with the rubbles of wood and bricks.

Nonetheless, she trudged onwards to the book room with was beside their room at the end of the hallway.

Sunlight striked her face, causing mild obstruction of her view. Squinting, she carried Kato on her arms to the book room sharply kicking open the door.

Her arms felt weary as she had been holding Kato for quite a long time whilst running.

She dropped Kato on the floor and stood for few moments to breathe.

Heavily panting with sweat beads atop her forehead, she removed the hair stuck to her face and placed it at he back of her ear.

Her pajama and polo was torn and endorsed in filth.

Suddenly turning towards the bookshelf, like a rabid dog she sprang towards it, and began searching the books and scrolls.

Opening frantically, reading and checking the names she finally found it after some time.

She quickly flipped the pages, and spotted the title,'SUPERNATURALS'.

She began reading through them thoroughly, from the common class and finally to the legendary class, there she spotted it.

She doesn't even know why her mind egged her to read on 'SUPERNATURALS' even when she thinks it's not related to her matter at hand, but the text she saw changed her perspective.

It read about Ungifteds, and what makes them an Ungifted.

Their core, the all absorbing black and white lotus that resides in the left side of the abdomen and the left side of one's face.

It was said to be impossible to actually destroy an Ungifted's core, since they don't have any veins that can carry or be affected by mana after their bloom.

And no one ever knows the time an Ungifted blooms, so no Ungifted had been destroyed from birth.

She glanced towards her brother, whom has the exact same marks through his left abdomen and left cheek.

She knew her thoughts were correct but couldn't admit it. In despair, she slumped to ground. Her legs crossed into each other, she couldn't believe it but it was real.

Her brother Kato, is the first Ungifted to ever be destroyed. Since Ungifteds appear with a twin— she looked at her hands, tears slowly welling up in her eyes again.

Amist the stacks of books and opened scrolls, she just sat there staring at her brother, whom his potential has been cut off forever. Her brother was in the stage of blooming when his core was destroyed.

Her speculative thoughts and Goddess Benzaitan's words and actions, she carved a guess.

Kato can be affected by supernatural power but she wasn't sure he could use or emit supernatural energy. In the scroll, it said that the all absorbing lotus destroys all veins responsible for carrying, retaining or being affected by supernatural energy.

Since Kato was still blooming, maybe the lotus hadn't destroying veins yet, but she thought wrong.

The evidence that the bloom was already in effect and had already started working.

Now she could see it, strange black veins highly visible on Kato skin as his skin turned pale white.

Her eyes widened in fear as she rushed towards her unconscious brother.

Placing her knees beneath his head, she held him in hands and hugged him. She couldn't hold back her tears anymore, with a searing voice, she wept.

Her beloved brother, cursed and destroyed, all by one being, one who calls herself a Supreme God.

Her hate intensified, transitioning to abhorrence and enmity.

That Goddess, she would make sure she kills her. It might seem impossible, but she would strive and do it, and unfortunately for the goddess, Yuki has already taken her first step to attaining godhood, her profound ability.

Sniffing back in her snot, she wiped her tears with her hands.

Gazing upon her brother, she closed her eyes.

She is a legendary class, a Gifted
