Unexpectedly, James suddenly launched an attack, and a stream of mud sprayed forward. When Vulpix was about to deliver the final blow to Ekans, the mud struck Vulpix directly in the face.
"Bah!"
Vulpix's vision was suddenly obstructed, and he shook his head quickly to remove the mud, but it clung stubbornly to his eyes, making it difficult to clear.
"Ekans, use Wrap now!" Jessie commanded, a sneer crossing her face. Ekans reacted immediately, its coils no longer restrained by the tattered remnants of a skirt around its neck. Freed from its bindings, Ekans moved with newfound agility, springing toward Vulpix like a coiled spring. It lashed its tail out, striking directly at Vulpix.
"Boom!"
"Vulpix!!" Suzie cried out in panic, clearly unprepared for the opponent's underhanded tactics.
"That's so low!" Brock growled, his fists clenched tightly as he glared angrily. The other Trainers nearby frowned in disapproval, murmuring amongst themselves about how such behavior was unacceptable. Some even whispered that Pokémon shouldn't be entrusted to people like this.
"Hmph! What's despicable? If you want to win, sacrifices are necessary!" Jessie retorted haughtily, crossing her arms as though she hadn't a care in the world.
"Ekans, deliver the final blow!"
"Come on, Koffing!" James added. Both Pokémon launched simultaneous attacks toward Vulpix.
"Stop!" Suzie and Brock shouted in unison. Suzie rushed forward but couldn't reach Vulpix in time.
However, Brock got there first. Throwing himself over the fallen Vulpix, he shielded it with his own body. Suzie gasped at the sight but grew even more anxious.
"Axew, Dual Chop!"
A new voice cut through the chaos. Everyone turned toward the sound of a Poké Ball opening. Out leapt an Axew, glowing brilliantly as it emerged. Its claws extended, green energy forming into dual blades.
"Bang! Bang!"
With precision and speed, Axew intercepted Ekans and Koffing, striking both Pokémon mid-charge. The force of the blows sent them flying back, crashing hard into the ground.
"What?!" Jessie and James gasped, stunned by the sudden turn of events. Meanwhile, the crowd around them breathed a collective sigh of relief. Suzie quickly ran over to Brock.
"Brock, are you alright?" she asked worriedly, glancing between him and Vulpix. "I'm so sorry—Vulpix was fighting for me, and now—"
"I'm fine, and so is Vulpix," Brock replied with a reassuring smile as he cradled the little Pokémon. His glasses were slightly askew, but he didn't appear seriously hurt.
"Thank you, Brock," Suzie said earnestly, her voice trembling with gratitude.
"You're the ones who are despicable!" James blurted, clearly frustrated by their failed attack.
"You don't get to criticize others!" Brock snapped back, standing tall with a fierce glare. Jessie and James fell silent, momentarily at a loss for words.
At that moment, Ash stepped forward, adjusting his hat with a determined look in his eyes. Then, with a steely tone, he addressed the duo in front of him:
"Since you started disobeying the rules, you should have been prepared to face me as your Rival! This farce ends now—show your true colors! Axew, Dual Chop!"
Ash stepped forward, pointing directly at Jessie and James as he gave the command.
"Axew!"
Axew responded immediately, rushing forward with a fierce cry and executing two powerful slashes. Jessie and James were startled, barely having time to react before Axew's sharp blades tore through the air. A sudden ripping sound followed, and their elegant Contest attire was shredded into pieces, revealing their familiar uniforms underneath.
"What?!" Brock's expression turned to one of shock as he saw the Team Rocket uniforms. "So it's you!"
The crowd around them began murmuring in confusion and surprise.
"Hmph! Now that we've been exposed, there's no need to keep up the act!" Jessie said haughtily. "Even though you didn't ask, we'll tell you mercifully!"
"Prepare for trouble!" Jessie declared.
"And make it double!" James followed.
"To protect the world from devastation!" Jessie.
"To unite all peoples within our nation!" James.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!" Jessie.
"To extend our reach to the stars above!" James.
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!" Jessie declared.
"Give up now or prepare to fight!" James concluded.
"Meowth, that's right!"
Ash groaned, scratching his ears in annoyance. "Ugh, not this again. What are you planning this time?"
"Little twerp, do you know it's rude to interrupt someone?" Jessie retorted. "Obviously, we're here for Pokémon!"
"Then why did you open a shop and change the atmosphere of this place?" Brock demanded, frowning.
"We don't have time for such nonsense!" James replied dismissively. "The store was just to make money. Of course, if anyone brought us a rare Pokémon, we'd take it right away."
"As for the atmosphere, that's not our concern," Jessie added smugly. "It's the result of all of your vanity and competition with one another!"
Their shameless response made the crowd pause. Some began murmuring amongst themselves, realizing the truth in Team Rocket's words. Their competitive attitudes had indeed contributed to the problem.
Brock clenched his fists, his voice rising in frustration. "This is outrageous! The responsibility and reputation of Pokémon Breeders won't be destroyed by people like you!"
"Brock, who are they?" Suzie asked as she joined him, her gaze wary.
"They're Team Rocket," Brock explained urgently. "A criminal gang that specializes in stealing other people's Pokémon!"
The crowd gasped in fear, clutching their Poké Balls tightly. Realizing how close they'd come to losing their Pokémon, their expressions shifted to anger.
Suzie's eyes burned with hostility as she glared at Team Rocket. "Not only did you ruin the atmosphere here, but you also tried to steal Pokémon from innocent Trainers? I won't let you get away with this!"
Her determined words drew supportive cheers from the crowd, who now looked ready to stand up against Team Rocket.
