The score was now 1-0.
After Watford's goal, their coach, Marco Silva, quickly made tactical adjustments. He knew that, given Watford's current strength, a direct confrontation with Chelsea would be risky.
So, after scoring, Silva decisively instructed all eleven Watford players to fall back and defend in their own half.
Now, it was Chelsea's turn to prove their offensive capabilities.
Despite having star players like Hazard and Cesc Fabregas in the lineup, their performance tonight was less than impressive—especially Hazard.
To be fair, Hazard's form tonight was truly off.
In the front third, Fabregas managed to get the ball to Hazard, even under pressure from several Watford players.
At this point, only Cleverley and Britos stood between Hazard and the goal. Given Hazard's skill, it should have been easy to bypass these two defenders. But tonight, it wasn't.
His attempted dribble was quickly read by the Watford defenders. Cleverley and Britos closed in on him, putting their bodies in the way and halting his advance.
Chelsea lost possession.
The next moment, Watford had a chance to counterattack.
The ball quickly reached Roberto Pereyra on the left wing.
Pereyra had a clear speed advantage, and as he charged down the field, Chelsea's defenders struggled to keep up.
In just a few seconds, Pereyra was near the baseline.
With a quick look to assess his teammates' positions, he crossed the ball into the box.
Chelsea's defenders, Rudiger and David Luiz, focused on marking Deeney at the center.
But Roberto Pereyra's cross wasn't aimed at Deeney. Instead, it soared to Richarlison, who was waiting unmarked at the back post.
Richarlison didn't hesitate.
He took the shot with a swift, powerful strike.
The ball soared straight into the net.
This was all Richarlison—pure individual skill.
And just like that, Watford, playing away, doubled their lead to 2-0.
In the stands, Chelsea fans were stunned, their faces tense and disappointed, unable to believe what they were witnessing.
This was not the outcome Chelsea's supporters had expected.
High up in the stands, Su Luo watched the scene unfold, shaking his head helplessly.
He knew it—the game was over, and the suspense was gone.
