Before Avery could come up with a proper reply to that, the bartender's voice calling out to them interrupted her.
"Ava and Alice?!" the man called out.
Pushing her chair back as she rose from it, Avery waved her hand so the man could see where they were seated.
"I'll go get it."
"Thank you!" Alice whispered, clapsing her hands together in gratitude and getting a small smile from Avery.
As the latter walked to the desk to pick up their coffees, she took the opportunity to glance at her watch again. She had just twenty minutes left now.
Avery paid for the coffee and turned around to start on her way back to their table, her brows furrowing in surprise and confusion when she didn't see Alice sitting there.
"Where did she go?" she murmured out loud, the question directed at no one in particular. Her eyes swept around the cafe's interior and catching no signs of Alice still present in the cafe, she shrugged and made a mental note to call her later on and check on her.
