Back in the adjacent compartment, Valcroy faced the last three attackers. But he couldn't even stand anymore as he leaned against the pole, his head dropped low, blood pooling under his feet. Slowly, he slid against the pole and was now on his knees. His head hung low as he took in shallow breaths, like the next one would be his last.
Meanwhile, his three attackers were looking at him from a distance, no one dared to move in closer. They looked at one another and spoke to one another.
"Go, check if he's still breathing."
"Why should I? Go do it yourself."
"Yeah, go, check it."
There was silence and the only sound was that of Val's breath, that was cutting short with each passing moment.
"Let's go together." One of them suggested, to which the other two nodded and started moving toward him, their vigilance raised to its limit.
