Pov Dia,
Dia: "Wow, I guess you could say he's got a temper. Who is he?"
I had come to visit my sister, and when I arrived, I saw a blond-haired child practicing swordsmanship with such determination that he was doing more harm than good.
Rias: "That's Isaiah, but he wants to be called Kiba Yuto now because he has rejected his former name. He's going to be my future Knight in my peerage. He's also the sole survivor of 'The Holy Sword Project.'"
I had heard of that project.
It was a church initiative aimed at training children to become bearers of sacred swords, particularly Excalibur. Unfortunately, when they realized the project was a failure, they committed genocide against all the children.
However, I hadn't heard of a male survivor—only a little girl who was saved and imprisoned within her Sacred Gear.
Dia: "I heard about it, but that doesn't explain why he's training like this—tearing his muscles more than strengthening them."
Rias: "The trauma he experienced was so intense that he swore to avenge himself and destroy all sacred swords, especially Excalibur."
Dia: "It's true that it's understandable. I can't fully grasp his pain, but I can understand his way of thinking. Do you want me to try and ease that hatred?"
Rias: "I don't want things to get worse."
Dia: "Don't worry, it'll be like with Akeno, but gentler. He'll still hold a grudge, but this time it'll be directed at the right target."
I stepped forward to introduce myself to Kiba.
Dia: "Hi, I'd like you to fight me."
Kiba: "I don't have time. I must become stronger."
At least he's not lacking motivation.
Dia: "That's a shame... I was hoping to practice a little with my new sacred sword."
I just created a crimson sword with runes that emanate a sacred aura to attract him.
Kiba: "Finally, I want to face you."
Dia: "Perfect timing. You can attack me whenever you want."
He rushed directly at me, head down and without thinking. Of course, I parried him.
He tried attack after attack, without any real technique.
Dia: "Do you know why you can't beat me?"
Kiba: "It's because I'm not strong enough. I have to become even stronger."
He summoned a demonic sword, which immediately made me realize that he's the bearer of the Sacred Gear [Sword Birth].
Dia: "Indeed, I am stronger than you, but I could still lose—even against the weakest person in the world. You can't beat me because you're directing your hatred and resentment at the wrong thing."
Kiba: "I don't understand what you mean, and it doesn't matter. The only thing I want is to become stronger so I can destroy all the Sacred Swords and the seven fragments of Excalibur."
Dia: "That's what I said—you're misdirecting your anger. You've directed your hatred toward those who aren't truly guilty of your suffering. It wasn't Excalibur that asked for children to be gathered for experiments, nor was it the sword that ordered you all to be killed when the experiment failed. The real culprits of your tragedy are the members of the clergy responsible for the project."
I've already warned Gabriel that if I hear of such a serious matter again, I will proceed with a complete purge and eliminate all the traitors and corrupt individuals from the clergy.
I went on for more than half an hour before convincing him that his hatred was misguided and that only the people responsible for the project should be punished.
I also made him understand that he had to live his life as his comrades would have wanted, instead of being guided by his emotions.
