Chapter 1 - A Bad Day

Millions of years ago, a war broke out between the Demon race and the Humans, resulting in countless innocent lives lost. The conflict raged on until a common enemy emerged, forcing both sides to unite in order to prevent their mutual extinction. Once the threat was eliminated, the heroes from both races agreed to end the senseless bloodshed and restore peace. From that day onward, the "Demon Realm" and the "Human World" were separated into different dimensions, the war forgotten as though it had never happened.

Today – The Human World

School bell rings

"Ah, finally! School's over for today. I can finally relax," said Shiro Tachibana, a third-year high school student.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY RELAXING?!" a loud, angry voice snapped.

"Don't you remember you promised to help the art club fix the mess you made the other day with your stupid tricks?" Yui Shimizu, Shiro's girlfriend and classmate, crossed her arms.

Shiro groaned. "Okay, okay! You don't have to yell. Just when I thought the day was over..."

Yui raised an eyebrow. "Well, it's not my fault you crashed into their charity stand trying to do an air trick on your skateboard."

"I'll be more careful next time. I promise."

Three hours later

Shiro wiped the sweat from his forehead. "That should be everything. Is there anything else we can help with?"

"No, that was the last of it. Thanks for helping out!" said an art club student.

"No, I'm the one who should be apologizing for causing the mess in the first place," Shiro replied.

Yui approached. "Hey, Shiro, I'm done over here. What about you?"

"Me too. Let's go."

"Alright. Good night, everyone."

In that moment, a strange sensation rippled through Shiro's body.

Shiro turns abruptly.

Yui looked at him, concerned. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing... I just felt like someone was watching us."

He wasn't wrong. A dark silhouette observed them from what appeared to be a portal, hidden just beyond sight.

Shiro (thinking): That was definitely strange. But what could it have been? Ah, whatever. All I want now is to go home and relax.

After walking Yui home and heading back to his own house, Shiro was met with another surprise.

"Where have you been? It's been hours since school ended, and you show up this late?" said Ai Tachibana, Shiro's mother. Her stern expression was enough to make Shiro nervous.

"Don't tell me you got into trouble again."

Terrified of his mother's wrath, Shiro quickly explained the situation.

Though clearly frustrated, Ai decided to let him off with a warning.

"Okay, I'm not mad, but make sure this doesn't happen again."

Shiro (thinking): Yes! I get to live another day. There really is a god out there.

Shiro: "I'm heading to my room to rest."

But just as he turned away, that uneasy feeling returned—a primal sense of being hunted.

"Where do you think you're going?" Ai said. "Just because I let you off the hook doesn't mean you're free from your chores. Remember, you promised to clean the attic today since your father's working late."

Shiro (thinking): Oh no... I forgot about the attic. Of all places, why that creepy old room?

Shiro: "Okay, I'll start after I take a bath."

"YOU'LL START NOW!"

Up in the attic

Shiro muttered to himself. "Why am I always the one stuck cleaning this place when Dad's not home? I hate this place. It's so creepy."

Loud bang

Shiro: "WHAT WAS THAT?!"

Gripping the broom tightly, he cautiously approached the source of the noise.

Shiro: "A book? That's strange. I don't remember us ever having this here."

The title read "The Forgotten Truce." The name alone sparked Shiro's curiosity.

Shiro: "I'll finish cleaning first, then check this out."

11:00 PM

Shiro: "Everything's done. Finally, I can lie down and relax. No school tomorrow!"

Out of nowhere, his eyes locked on the very book he left in the attic—now sitting ominously on his desk.

With a nervous gulp, Shiro approached. Despite his anxiety, he opened the book, unaware that this was the moment that would change his life forever.
