In the dim-lit dining hall,
Lav sat alone, a cup of raspberry ice cream resting before her. Her eyes traced the surface of the table, lost in thoughts none could read. The silence clung to her like a shadow until the sound of footsteps broke it. Bryant entered, only to halt abruptly.
A slight frown tugged on his face. Once again, she indulged in the same flavor, a reminder of Flavio, a thread he feared to pull. Still, he could not stay away. Quietly, he moved toward her, his voice rough, hesitant, "What keeps you lost at this hour?"
For so long, he had been mute, only nodding or shaking his head. Now, words felt foreign, but he couldn't help himself. Lav's gaze flickered for a brief moment before she spoke, her tone clipped. "Nothing" The answer was sharp, cutting through the air.
Bryant hesitated,
but his curiosity tugged at him.
