Jaxen stormed down the grand staircase of villa.
His footsteps were heavy with frustration. His mother's sharp voice cut through the air, halting him mid-stride. "Your career is going to be ruined" Florence declared, her voice as sharp as glass. His jaw clenched, the muscle ticking beneath his skin.
But he forced a smile as he turned to face her. "Why? Are you planning on locking me up again?" His voice was a venomous hiss, his dimples deepening with mocking charm. Florence scowled from her wheelchair, her gaze cold and unwavering.
"Your coach is a fraud, a disgusting cheat. Do you really think you will qualify for the ring with him in your corner? You chose wrong" Her lips twisted into a cruel smile, savoring her son's imminent downfall. Jaxen's eyes narrowed, suspicion flashing across his face.
"Did you spread the rumors?"
