By the time Tobin and his mother marched into the bedchamber a while later, Lucas had finished unwrapping each gift and had displayed them all on and around the window seat. Tobin didn't spare Celia or Gabriel a glance as he focused on the range of treasures from across the continent.
"Not a bad haul for all my efforts between the sheets, eh Lucas?" Tobin gloated, his small eyes glittering with greed at the gifts.
Lucas aimed him a smile that looked almost sincere. "Not bad at all, Your Grace."
Tobin picked up a set of candlesticks crafted from priceless grey crystal, turning them in his hands. "Who sent these?"
"The Kingdom of Tyre, Your Grace." Lucas said.
Tobin finally glanced at Celia as she quietly nursed the baby. "I hope you've kept track of who sent what, dear wife. It'll be your responsibility to prepare suitable letters of thanks to each kingdom. And think about your words before you write them, please. We can't have your ignorance souring diplomatic relations."
