The Peninsula Hotel.
Adam was escorted back by Crow and Yasha. Upon entering, he ran into Caesar and Chu Zihang.
"Did they send you back too?" Caesar, sitting on the couch, was smoking a high-quality cigar. He exhaled the smoke and said, "Looks like the Japan branch is hiding something from us."
"Too?"
Adam looked at them in confusion.
"When I was buying cosmetics in Ginza, suddenly people from Yamata no Orochi showed up," Chu Zihang said casually.
"These two were very forceful. They said the Oni Clan was about to launch a full-scale war, and for our safety, they sent me back to the Peninsula Hotel early."
"My situation is pretty similar to his," Caesar said, pushing his bangs back and blowing out a puff of smoke. He thought for a moment and added, "But I don't think things are as simple as they say. What do you two think?"
"Nine truths, one lie. They're hiding the most important information," Chu Zihang frowned, analyzing the situation.
"The Oni Clan's attack is probably real, but they wouldn't lock us all up here at the Peninsula Hotel like this."
"I know a bit about the Oni Clan," Adam adjusted his glasses and then told them everything that happened with the 'Osho.'
"Wow, in less than a day, you've already teamed up with the head of the Uesugi family from Yamata no Orochi?" Caesar's pupils contracted in shock. He then looked Adam up and down, surprised. "I didn't expect that from you. Got any other secrets?"
"You're probably misunderstanding something," Adam's eye twitched. He sighed helplessly. "There's nothing more. I just ran into Erii by chance."
"The Tokyo Bay area and the sunken region of the Lenin ship we're investigating are very close," Chu Zihang looked at Caesar and asked, "I suspect this is connected to the Japan branch's actions. They must be hiding some secret. You're the team leader. What should we do now?"
"Since Yamata no Orochi is deliberately hiding information from us, it means they don't want to confront us openly yet," Caesar slowly smoked his cigar. After thinking for a while, he said, "The current situation is out of our hands. Let's report what we know to Cassel College."
"Unfortunately, I think your idea might not work," a voice said suddenly.
Adam sat in front of the computer, looking at the wrong interface, and shrugged. "It looks like the people from Yamata no Orochi have blocked the Japanese region. We can't reach Cassel."
"So, we can only rely on ourselves now?" Chu Zihang said. "We're in Japan, and we're under the surveillance of Yamata no Orochi. If we interfere, it could lead to them viewing us as enemies, and things might get complicated."
As the three of them worried about the situation, the room suddenly went dark.
"Even a five-star hotel loses power?" Adam was surprised. He went over to check the switch but found it didn't work.
"Did Yamata no Orochi do this?" Chu Zihang wondered.
"Wait, something's wrong!" Caesar furrowed his brow, his expression changing slightly. He raised a finger to his lips. "Shh, don't speak!"
The 'Word Soul: Kamaitachi' was quietly released, creating a large domain that used sound waves like radar, transmitting all the information directly to their minds.
Outside the presidential suite, the hallway was also plunged into darkness. The guards sent by Yamata no Orochi to watch over them were now all lying in pools of blood, their breathing faint, clearly in critical condition.
"The guards outside are dead!" Caesar's heart skipped a beat. He immediately reported, "Someone attacked the hotel, and their target is us!"
"Is it the Oni Clan? No, their target is Adam!" Chu Zihang's expression changed. He suddenly turned around, realizing something.
In the dark room, at some point, another figure had appeared behind Adam. Like a ghost, it stood motionless, with no presence whatsoever. If they hadn't seen it with their eyes, they would have thought it was a hallucination.
The figure was standing too close to Adam. If they used their abilities, it would be hard to avoid hitting their teammate.
"Caesar, southwest, now!" In less than a second, Chu Zihang made a quick decision. He called for Caesar to support and leaped off the sofa.
Although unsure of what was happening, Caesar trusted Chu Zihang completely. Without hesitation, he pulled out his Desert Eagle and fired in the indicated direction.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The hot flames from the gun briefly lit up the room.
In the flash of light, Chu Zihang saw the "ghost" behind Adam clearly. The figure wore a pale mask, its mouth twisted into a chilling smile. Sharp iron teeth extended from its mouth, exuding a bloodthirsty, violent aura.
Just then, Caesar saw the intruder and his eyes widened. "This is impossible! My Kamaitachi didn't detect anyone!"
Theoretically, as long as it's within the range of the wind devil (Kamaitachi), he should be able to "hear" all living beings.
But there was a "living person" in the room, and he didn't sense anything at all. Something clearly felt off.
Then, something even more bizarre happened: the three bullets fired by the Desert Eagle went straight through the man's body, hitting the wall behind him.
"Chu Zihang, be careful, something's wrong with this guy!" Caesar immediately warned.
As Chu Zihang rushed forward, he suddenly reached out, trying to pull Adam back. But at that moment, the person wearing the pale mask suddenly took out a clapper and gently tapped it.
Clap!
The hollow, eerie sound seemed to resonate deep into their souls.
Then, Caesar saw Chu Zihang freeze, as if someone had pressed the pause button on him. He stayed in place, still reaching out with his hand, completely frozen.
"This is bad!"
Caesar's face changed dramatically, and he quickly aimed his Desert Eagle.
Clap! Clap!
Two more sharp claps echoed.
Just as Caesar was about to pull the trigger, he suddenly felt his fingers stiffen, unable to press the trigger. A heavy feeling sank in his chest. What kind of damn spiritual power was this?
Only two claps, and it could control a Hybrid with two A-rank bloodlines?
However, the ghostly "Osho" in the darkness seemed to see through his thoughts, his tone tinged with amusement: "Heh, controlling you with a Word Soul is not my power."
Controlled by an invisible force, Chu Zihang and Caesar suddenly realized that Adam was staring at them expressionlessly.
His golden-red eyes were cold and indifferent, filled with an absolute, terrifying will that couldn't be resisted—like a god looking down on the countless insignificant lives of the world.
"It's Adam,"
Chu Zihang said with difficulty, unable to believe what he was seeing.
The clap was used to control 'Adam,' not them!
Now it made sense—Chu Zihang understood in an instant: the wood clapper controlled Adam, and then Adam controlled them.
"Just with a single glance, he was able to control two Grade A hybrids from Cassell. How terrifying must Adam's bloodline purity be?!"
"Are you... the leader of the Oni Clan, Osho?!" Caesar stared at the mask, quickly piecing together the information Adam had given him. "You deliberately diverted Yamata no Orochi' attention. Your real goal is Adam Anglewid!"
"That's right."
Osho's eyes were indifferent as he spoke in a flat tone. "From the very beginning, my target has always been Adam Anglewid."
