"Regina wait up!" I yell trying to keep up with my friend who turns around a corner.
"Can't you keep up?" She called back when I turned around the same corner only to find her already far ahead. We are late for our first class of the day. And it is not the first time. Moyo Royal High has a strict policy when it comes to punctuality but we act as if it doesn't exist.
It has been a year since I arrived here. This is an amazing school. Not going to lie about that. But I still don't like it here. Learners here are snobbish. But Nelly proved that not all of them are like that. Sure some are cocky as fuck but most are down to earth. Doesn't cancel the fact that they are snobbish.
Most of the teachers act like we have the same IQ which is weird considering we are all different. But also understandable as this school is only for the elite and rich.
But that isn't all. I would get this feeling of being watched but when I look around, I would find no one. Nelly said it might be caused by the 'ghost'. We heard stories of the school being hunted but I know better.
Reaching the Maths class as it is our first class, we slowed down. "What are we going to say?" Nelly asked. Even though we are late almost every day, she still gets scared.
"Just breathe and relax. The rest I will handle." I told her just so she could settle down. We entered the class and luckily the teacher, Mr Ryan hadn't arrived. I looked at Nelly and gave her my best reassuring smile ever. We took our seats only for Mr Ryan to enter.
He looked as handsome as ever. I know I am complementing my teacher but he is the youngest. Maybe also the hottest male teacher in the school. Or so we think. He was wearing the usual. Black shirt, blue tie and black pants. Makes me wonder if those are the only clothes he owns.
Behind him was a girl who looked more or less my age. She is wearing the school uniform. The one that we wear only on Fridays. And she looked exceptionally good in it. It looks like it was made for her. She looks like she walked right out of a vague magazine.
"Okay class. Today we have a new learner. Her name is Nelly Anderson. She will be joining us for Maths." Mr Ryan said in his deep voice. It would be nice if he only knew how to use it. Next to me is an open seat. Regina took it. I am surprised that a girl like her is shy. She looks like one of those learners who would prefer flaunting their beauty than caring about people's opinions or feelings.
I looked at Regina only to see her already dozing off. She hates maths as much as I hate literature. Then I looked at Regina. She seemed focused at first but I realized she wasn't looking at the board where the teacher was busy explaining.
And then I felt it, the feeling of being friendly with her. But I ignored it. Because this school is full of snobs. She might even be one of them.
Class ended quickly without any events. It is now English. I hate English so much that I always see it as a free period.
"Hi. Is this seat taken?" I looked up only to come face to face with Nelly. She looks good for a snob. "Yeah sure. I am Loverina Wesley but you can call me Love." I say. Don't know what got into me but just felt the need to be polite.
This is the second week since school has reopened for the first quarter. Last year was boring. Nothing happened.
