Strax cast one last glance at his wives before following Evelyn. He needed to resolve this as quickly as possible. If he wanted to create perfection, he couldn't afford to waste any time.
The elf led him through winding corridors until they reached the greenhouse at the back of Scarlet's mansion. Evelyn opened the door and stepped inside without hesitation, signaling for him to follow.
As soon as he crossed the threshold, Strax was greeted by a metallic, dense smell of blood, mixed with a subtle chemical scent. Evelyn's laboratory was a disturbing sight. Under the pale light of glowing crystals, tables were covered with surgical instruments, bottles filled with viscous liquids, and at the center of it all, a long countertop where artificial organs were meticulously arranged. Hearts, lungs, livers, and even eyeballs lay there, as if awaiting some dark purpose.
Evelyn walked casually to the table and picked up one of the artificial hearts, turning it between her pale fingers.
