Having made up her mind, Lian Manman didn't immediately go to the Upper Room. Lady Zhou was probably still seething with anger. Going there now would be like walking into the line of fire. Lian Manman wasn't in a hurry; she believed that after hearing the words passed on by Lady Chiang, Lady Gu would soon take action.
Others might not have a way to appease Lady Zhou, but Lady Gu most certainly did.
Lian Manman strolled around the courtyard and found Liulang squatting in the corner, gnawing on a dried cucumber. She beckoned him over and gave him a few instructions.
"...Keep an eye out, and when you come to deliver a message to me, I'll give you two pieces of trough cake," Lian Manman told Liulang.
For Liulang, listening at the base of the wall and delivering messages to Lian Manman in exchange for the trough cake he usually couldn't get was an offer too good to pass up. Happily, he headed straight for the Upper Room.
