Chapter 164 - Chapter 162 - Ouroboros.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

"Arise."

Upon uttering these words, a dark aura began to emerge from the lifeless body of the basilisk. Suddenly, the creature exploded in all directions with uncontrolled energy, engulfing even Snape, who stood before it.

He himself smiled as he watched the inert basilisk start to regain form, an energy rising above its body without affecting its main structure.

"What is this?!" A scream echoed through Salazar's Chamber. The portrait of Slytherin could not see what was happening, but the energy explosion and that dark aura were so overwhelming that he was completely stunned.

The energy continued pulsing for a while until, finally, it ceased.

"Ouroboros!"

Salazar heard Snape's voice soon after. The wizard emerged from the darkness, climbing the stairs and crossing the destroyed doorway. He entered once again the chamber where the portrait of the Slytherin founder resided.

"What was that?!" the portrait murmured, staring fixedly at Snape. He couldn't notice anything different about him or understand what that explosion had meant.

Snape simply smiled and looked directly at Salazar's image. "Come on, Ouroboros, present yourself."

Upon hearing the name of the new shadow, the darkness beneath Snape's feet, once merely a projection of the torches in the room, began to expand. It crawled across the floor, drawing the form of a snake. Then, suddenly, its head emerged from the shadow, growing to the original size of the basilisk.

"This… Sara?! How is this possible… Is this necromancy?!" Salazar exclaimed, stunned as he gazed upon the creature. Sara was the name he had given to the small basilisk a thousand years ago.

The basilisk had regained its full form, but it was now entirely composed of darkness and blue light. Though its enormous size prevented it from fitting completely within the chamber, part of its body and neck emerged from Snape's shadow. It rose before its new master, awaiting orders, while its blue eyes shone towards Salazar's portrait.

"I... I don't believe it. You actually brought it back from the dead! What kind of magic is this?!" The founder's portrait was terrified.

He had never seen anything like it. Necromancy was a dark and rare art, but this exceeded anything he had ever known. Salazar swallowed hard as he gazed at the resurrected basilisk, now transformed into a living shadow. The creature's cold eyes were fixed on him.

"Is it really you, Sara?" he asked hesitantly.

The basilisk merely flicked its tongue quickly but did not respond. After all, it now belonged to a new master.

Snape looked at Salazar and smiled slightly. "If you want to know how I got that phoenix, well… here's your answer. I killed one and brought it back from the dead."

Salazar's eyes widened. "I might understand a basilisk…" he murmured, still staring at Ouroboros in its shadow form. "But… a phoenix?! They are immortal! There is no way you could have killed one!"

Snape shrugged. "Let's just say my abilities work against a phoenix when it is caught between life and death."

The basilisk began to descend back into Snape's shadow, disappearing completely from Salazar's view.

The wizard who, for centuries, had been a symbol for purebloods and Slytherin students no longer bore his air of control and arrogance. For the first time in a thousand years, Salazar Slytherin was terrified.

He looked at Snape with wary eyes. That power… This power was beyond anything he had ever witnessed before.

"Who are you? No… What are you…?" He finally asked. Snape was no longer human in his eyes.

"Stop with the stupid questions," Snape retorted.

"Then tell me," Salazar said. "You don't just have a giant snake and a phoenix in a 'white' state, do you?"

"I think you already know the answer to that, Salazar," Snape spoke calmly. "Now, tell me about the formula."

Salazar did not deny it, nor did he try to ask more questions. He was already too unsettled to continue, so he simply began to speak.

Snape merely listened and stored the information in his mind for later use.

"Anyway, your book is back. Thanks for lending it."

With that, Snape repaired the entrance to the place before vanishing with a shadowy Apparition.

"And?" Snape said as he sat beside Clarisse at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall.

Once again, the Headmaster's chair was empty. The professors managed the school's responsibilities, but they still cast worried glances at Dumbledore's absence. Even the students had begun to question what had happened to their Headmaster, especially after hearing the news that he had been fighting in Diagon Alley.

"Snape," Clarisse murmured upon seeing him beside her so suddenly. She gave him a smile.

"Snape, where do you know that house-elf from last night?" someone suddenly asked among the students. They seemed very curious about it.

Snape looked at the student, who immediately felt intimidated by his gaze.

"You didn't know? The ones who prepare our food are house-elves," another student said.

"You've got to be joking, right?" another murmured, skeptical.

"She's right," Snape suddenly replied. "House-elves prepare this food. There is a secret kitchen in this school."

The comment surprised some students—not only because of this revelation but also because Snape was speaking so calmly. He had always been reserved, but this year, he seemed more at ease, less of the monster whispered about in the corridors. Perhaps encountering his past self in the dungeons had changed him a little, bringing him closer to who he once was.

"Snape…" Suddenly, someone called his name beside him.

Snape turned his attention to none other than Jerônimo, who was sitting next to him. He still seemed somewhat affected by the Cruciatus curse.

"Yes?" Snape replied.

"I wanted to thank you for what you did last year," Jerônimo murmured, almost hesitantly.

Snape raised an eyebrow. Jerônimo had been tortured by some seventh-year students who believed they were "punishing" his family for not supporting Voldemort. It served as a warning to him and to others.

But Snape had not only discovered and exposed the culprits—he had also tortured them after being threatened by them. Of course, no one was supposed to know that.

"About the wand, of course," Snape said. After all, he was the one who had found Jerônimo collapsed, injured, and had sent him to the infirmary before notifying him that his wand had been taken and later found in the hands of those same tormentors.

"Not just that. I found out what happened afterward," Jerônimo murmured, lowering his voice slightly.

He believed Snape had been the one responsible for torturing the noble family students. The idea was insane, but if anyone were capable of doing it… that person would be Snape.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Snape shrugged, turning his attention back to Clarisse.

Jerônimo only sighed but allowed a small smile to escape. Deep down, he was still grateful.

Even if he feared Snape.

"Did you know that the professor who always stares at you came looking for you after the dueling class?" Clarisse murmured, displeased, while Snape glanced at the teachers' table.

The only one who didn't seem particularly worried was Rosária, who was watching him as she always did.

"I see," Snape said. "Let's settle this quickly." He decided.

Dinner continued as usual. Shortly afterward, Snape withdrew and made his way to a specific room in the school. Once everything was empty, he quickly wrote a letter and summoned Dobby's father, who promptly appeared to assist him.

"Deliver this letter to the recipient."

The elf nodded and disappeared.

Snape remained there, waiting for some time. Suddenly, a new Apparition shattered the silence of the room.

A stunning woman appeared in the space. Her eyes gleamed, even amidst the darkness that filled the room at this hour.

"You called me in person? I'm surprised," she murmured after reading the letter delivered by the house-elf who had knocked on her door.

"Yes. After all, I don't like people asking about me or searching for me all the time. So, let's put an end to this quickly, Rosária Valenstein."

She smiled and took a deep breath, seeming to take great pleasure in the moment.

"You really don't stink," she murmured.

Snape narrowed his eyes, suspicious.

"What do you mean by that?" he questioned, remembering that she had said something similar when they met in the Transylvanian forest.

"I can smell a terrible scent on all living beings, except for animals. Even my own family has an unpleasant scent to me. But with you... it's different," she said, giving a timid smile.

Snape raised an eyebrow, not understanding what she meant. He decided to move on with the conversation.

"Anyway, you're here on your father's orders, right? I assume he wants to kill me."

"No." She shook her head. "He was really angry at you for invading his castle and fighting him head-on. But he was also surprised... and even curious. After you destroyed his precious portrait..."

She paused and sighed.

"I actually bought that painting at our auction. If I had known it would turn into such a mess, I would have just left it for you." She chuckled softly, pouting slightly, then continued.

"Anyway, I'm not here to spy on you. I wanted to get to know you better. After all, maybe we can settle this in a very peaceful way," she murmured, looking at Snape with interest.

He raised an eyebrow.

"And what would that be?" he asked.

"I think a marriage between you and me might be the best solution. After all, my father was impressed by your strength. I'm sure he would love to have a son-in-law like you."

She didn't look like a 200-year-old woman. In fact, as she said those words, she seemed shy, as if it hadn't been her father who suggested the idea.

Snape remained silent for a few moments, pondering. Then, he shook his head.

"Sorry, but that's out of the question right now."

"Why?!" She seemed offended by his refusal, raising her voice more than she intended.

"I'm half-human too! If you're worried about whether I'm a 'pure' woman, I am!"

She blushed slightly at this declaration and murmured, "I'm still a virgin... Even after 200 years, I've never done those things because I've never had anyone."

Her voice became even more embarrassed as she said it.

"I'm not going to marry you just like that," Snape shrugged, rejecting the proposal outright.

This was already the second marriage proposal he had received. However, this one seemed much more humble, without any absurd demands like the one Clarisse's father had made. He wanted Snape to take the Prince family name and become a pure-blooded member of high magical society.

Clarisse and her father no longer seemed to demand as much, perhaps after witnessing what he was capable of. Despite that, Clarisse had shown a certain interest in him ever since they had met again, before he had invaded the castle.

Rosária, hearing his response, seemed to consider it for a moment. Perhaps Snape was right, especially when he said he couldn't simply get married like that.

A gleam appeared in her eyes, and then she gave a sweet smile.

"Alright. Maybe we can work things out as we get to know each other… Like a date?!" she said, her voice lowering at the last part, as if recalling how she had seen some humans get acquainted over the centuries she had lived.

Then, she abruptly changed the subject, as if taking advantage of the opportunity.

"Besides, I'd like you to attend my classes. I heard that you skipped all of last year's History of Magic lessons. Could you at least attend mine?" she said in a demanding tone, almost stomping her foot as she stared at Snape insistently.

Snape sighed. He knew that if he refused, she would pester him until he showed up to her class.

"Fine, I'll go," he finally said.

"Great! I'll be looking forward to seeing you," Rosária replied, excited like a teenager.

Snape remained there for a few moments, unsure of what to think about the situation. Then, he decided to get straight to the point.

"Anyway, I want to talk about Atlas. Where is he?"

He was already aware that the creature was with her, so he wasted no time and went straight to the point. After all, he wanted to get his Graphorn back. After spending a year caring for the animal and watching it grow from a mere cub since he found it in the Forbidden Forest, he had grown attached to it.

Rosária nodded slightly.

"Of course, come with me," she murmured.

Snape followed as she teleported them away with wizarding magic.
