Chapter 115 - Chapter 115 : Between Two Worlds: Love in the Shadow of Tiamat

Itomori

After school ended, Mitsuha pulled Akira away without even paying attention to Sayaka, her close friend.

"Why are you here?" Mitsuha asked, flustered and embarrassed, gasping for air. Akira's arrival had not only shocked her but also embarrassed her due to the misunderstanding spread by that annoying blond-haired man.

"As expected of you, you know every inch of my body. It's impossible for you to mistake that I'm from the future," Akira understood the meaning behind Mitsuha's question. She was confused as to why Akira, who should have been in the future, was here in the past—three years before his time. He couldn't help but tease her.

"Huh... T-this..." Hearing Akira's words, the blush on Mitsuha's face deepened. She wanted to deny it, but she couldn't. Akira wasn't lying. She knew every inch of his body because of their body-swapping experiences, and she even knew how many moles were on his body.

But even if this was true, Mitsuha didn't have the courage to admit it. All she could do was stare at Akira in shock, her face red, unsure of what to do.

"Well, I was just joking," Akira smiled when he saw how Mitsuha was too embarrassed and shocked to speak. He gently pinched her cheeks and said, "I came to see you. This is the first time we're interacting face to face. Besides, I need to deal with Comet Tiamat, which will fall on this town during tomorrow's festival."

Although his words were terrifying, Akira's voice was incredibly soothing. In the past, he would have had trouble handling a meteor without causing damage or being noticed, but now he was different. He was confident in his ability to deal with the meteor without any issues.

"I see, so today is..." Mitsuha muttered with some anxiety. She had seen all the information related to the Itomori Disaster, which indicated that the meteor had split in half and fallen on Itomori, causing a massive catastrophe. Many people had died, and only 1,000 people who were far from the city center where the meteor fell had survived.

Remembering this information, Mitsuha's body stiffened with fear. She was just an ordinary high school girl, and she was naturally afraid of death and blood. This fear hadn't disappeared, even after seeing many things that would make a person indifferent to something as trivial as this.

"There's no need to worry. I'm here, and I won't let anything happen to you or the people of your town," Akira said when he saw Mitsuha's state. He hugged her gently, resting his chin on her head and lightly patting her back to calm her down.

Feeling the sudden embrace, Mitsuha's tense body stiffened, but she soon relaxed as she felt the warmth and familiar scent. Even though this was the first time their bodies had been this close, the sense of familiarity between them wasn't fake or an illusion. Their souls were connected.

"Mmm..." Mitsuha let out a soft hum as she continued to hug Akira. His scent and the feeling of safety he exuded were addictive, and she didn't want to let go so quickly.

Akira didn't say anything and continued to hug Mitsuha's soft and beautiful body, enjoying her scent, which overwhelmed his senses due to their closeness.

"Mitsuha!!" While the two were hugging, they heard the voice of a worried man and the sound of hurried footsteps. Both of them recognized the voice—it was Teshigawara Katsuhiko, one of Mitsuha's friends.

"Wait, Tessie..." After hearing Tessie's voice, they also heard Sayaka's frantic voice. It was clear that she was trying to stop Tessie from barging onto the rooftop and interrupting the two.

Due to her confusion and embarrassment, Mitsuha didn't know where to take Akira. In the end, she could only drag him to the school rooftop, which led to Tessie arriving and interrupting them.

Hearing the noise, the two separated from their hug, but not completely. Akira held Mitsuha's hand, something she didn't mind since her entire class already knew he was her boyfriend. Soon, the whole school would know as well.

"..." Under their gaze, the rooftop door was opened by a young man with an ordinary face, hazel eyes, and very short black hair. His appearance suggested he was a baseball player, especially since his hair was so short—it looked like he had shaved it completely before it started growing back.

Tessie was gasping for air, but his gaze was fixed on Akira and Mitsuha, especially on their intertwined hands. He couldn't believe his eyes.

Tessie's father and Mitsuha's father were close, which led to them knowing each other for a long time. They were considered childhood friends, and Tessie had romantic feelings for Mitsuha—something Akira had noticed when he was swapping bodies with Mitsuha. That's why Akira held Mitsuha's hand in front of Tessie, to make him give up. Tessie was a good person, and Akira wanted him to surrender on his own. It was impossible for Akira to let go of his woman for another man, even if it meant standing over his own corpse.

"..." Tessie stared at the two, his eyes narrowing in shock. His body trembled, clearly unable to believe what he was seeing. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't utter a single word. The sight was overwhelming for him, especially when he saw how Mitsuha's face was slightly red with embarrassment, but she didn't pull away from Akira or let go of his hand.

"Sorry, Mitsuha. I tried to stop him, but he wouldn't listen," Sayaka apologized with an embarrassed smile. She felt bad for interrupting the two, but she was also happy because this would make Tessie give up on Mitsuha and finally look at her. Sayaka had had feelings for him for a while, but he had only ever looked at Mitsuha.

"You must be Tessie and Saya-chi. Mitsuha has told me a lot about you," Akira smiled lightly as he introduced himself to the others. "I'm Mitsuha's boyfriend from Tokyo. My name is Nifuji Akira."
