The estate looked like something out of a dream. A modern castle nestled in the hills of a valley, complete with towering stone walls, rose-lined gardens, and a ceremony hall that stole my breath the moment I stepped inside it earlier that morning. Now, standing just behind the heavy wooden doors with my arm tucked into my father's, it all felt… surreal.
"Dad," I said softly, gripping his arm just a little tighter.
He looked down at me with a gentle smile. "You okay?"
I nodded, but my voice wavered. "I think so. Just... nerves. Or maybe something else."
He gave my hand a little squeeze. "You've got this, sweetheart. But just so we're clear..." He leaned down, murmuring close to my ear, "If that man ever breaks your heart, I'll personally get rid of him."
I laughed, blinking back a sudden sting of tears. "Daddy."
He shrugged. "I've said it to every guy who ever came near you. I just mean it more with him."
