I drove up to the upstate home where my mistress lived, steeling myself for what was sure to be a difficult conversation. As soon as I walked through the door, I could sense the tension in the air, thick and palpable.
"We need to talk," I said, trying to keep my voice steady despite the turmoil swirling inside me.
She turned to face me, her expression guarded. "About what?" she snapped, already on the defensive.
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before speaking. "You need to move out." I said bluntly, cutting straight to the chase.
Her eyes widened in disbelief, and then narrowed in anger. "What do you mean, I need to move out?" she demanded, her voice rising. "This is my home too!"
Terrance paced the length of the upstate house, his hands running through his hair in frustration. Vanessa sat on the edge of the couch, her arms crossed, her eyes narrowing as she watched him.
