Leon saw Altair's body emitting a faint white light.
But the light grew brighter by the second, and with it, a deep sense of worry welled up inside him.
Altair stared at her glowing body without the slightest trace of surprise.
"This is a sign that I'm about to disappear," she said calmly, a faint smile on her lips. "I've already passed everything on to Athena. Naturally, my duty here is done. So, I'll be leaving."
Her tone carried a sense of relief, as if a heavy burden had finally been lifted from her shoulders.
Leon opened his mouth to speak, but the words refused to come out. Silence clung to him instead.
It would be a lie to say he wasn't sad. Their interaction had been brief, yet Leon knew Altair was a genuinely kind person.
Maybe it was because that body was merely a remnant of her original soul, or because they stood within a dimension she had created—either way, Leon could feel the emotions she tried to hide: sorrow, loneliness, and more.
