Chapter 253 - Shadow Town

The group opened up, laughing and pulling each others legs during the meal. Alan also learnt that, these are the group of adventurers who work as mercenaries.

The current task they took was to deliver the goods to a wealthy merchant in Shadow Town. Alan after getting further details understood that, although this mission of theirs was not dangerous, it was a time consuming one. From their starting point till the delivery of their goods, it took more than 2 months. Out of which the group had already completed more than 52 days and they were at their last week of their journey.

Alan decided to join the group and go to the Shadow Town and explore it. Over the next few days, they travelled towards the Shadow town and as the others told, it was quite a smooth ride except perhaps a couple of wild beast attacks and a group of bandit trying to loot them and failing miserably thanks to Alan's keen senses. Who alerted the team about them and the team members made a short work of the bandits.

On the Ninth day morning, they reached the Shadow Town. True to it's name, the Shadow Town was nestled at the hollow below a clif which provided a natural barrier on all three sides. Except at the noon when the sun was straight on top, the town was always in the shadow of the towering clif.

This was one of the smallest Town Alan had seen. Yet, it looked a prosperous one. The protection provided by the clifs on all three sides was a natural defence against any group of bandits or beasts attack.

After a quick check at the entrance gate the group entered the town. After a brief explanation about the specialities, places to see and things to take care about, Maggie brought Alan near a well maintained Inn.

"This is one of the better Inn's in this town. The rooms are clean. Food is delicious and the prices are decent. It is also close to all the local guilds."

" Alright, we part our ways here. Thank you all for allowing me and my friend here to travel with you." Alan inclined his head at the group and waved them goodbye.

Maggie hugged the horse's neck and said her goodbye.

When Alan took his horse to the Stable which was at the side of the Inn. A stable boy of around 12 years was found standing still, gawking at the majestic horse.

"Hello there, can you please take care of my friend." Alan smiled at the look on the boy's face.

"Su....Sure sir." Coming out of the shock, the boy took the reign of the horse and took it at the end where there was a private area. Alan noticed several war horses on the opposite side. He tossed a Silver coin and the boy snatch it deftly. When he saw what was in his hand, his face split in two. He bowed deeply and took a bucket of water and a brush to give the horse a brushing.

Shaking his head and with a slight smile, Alan walked inside the Inn and saw a beautiful young lady.
