Her attention was caught by the next item, the contract for a land in the suburb. Josh saw this and immediately understood that she wants the contract. "Are you interested in that piece of land?"
She nodded "Yes, our family is eyeing that land for a year. Sadly, we fail to buy that land because someone already bought it. I never knew that the Parry family are the ones who bought it."
"Why did grandpa want it?" he asked
"You know the city next to us right? That's the Berian city. One of the largest city in our region. The price of the lands there are costly. Even though that is only a land in the suburbs, many people from small city like us are moving in to Berian city. If we get our hands on that land, we can develop it with houses, parks, and villas. Our family will make a fortune with that land." She explained.
Josh listen carefully and thought for a moment. 'That's also the nearest land on the border of oracle and berian city. It's close on the northern part of the city which the Douglas family lives.'
"This is one of the main items for the night!"
"It's value must be over a hundred million!"
The crowd is lively and so as Marsh and Cole. Both if them intend to get their hands on the piece of land. 'Master Damon will reward us with hefty prize if we manage to succeed in this task' Marsh is looking forward for rise of his masters.
"The starting price of the land is 150 million! and the bid must be up by ten million!"
This let down most of the bidders because of the high price. "Bidding starts now!"
"160 million!"
"170 million!"
"180 million!"
Some of the wealthy bidders decided to concede to give way and to give respect the Douglas and Wade family. They knew that they wanted to crush the moral of the Jenner family and its alliance by taking the land that they always wanted to get. Almost all of them knew that after the battle starts, the Jenner family will be finished.
"200 million!" everyone looked at Bonna after she placed her bid
"Is she crazy?"
"That's a huge sum of money"
"Alas, she's smart but naive and inexperienced"
Marsh chuckles as she look at her like she's a dumb. "Ms. Jenner, you shouldn't waste that money. You know that once the battle starts, you'll need every penny that you have."
Bonna is silent as she is determine to get the land. Josh's watches and shakes his head in pity. 'These idiots has no brains at all. 200 million is worth it if you can renovate the entire suburb. Many wealthy people especially in that city will take the initiative to buy villas and those villas's prices will surely gone up to 20 to 30 million. If you can build at least 10 to 20 villas then your profit is huge. Not to mention if you build some entertainment facilities over there.'
"220 million!" Marsh grins at Bonna. She gritted her teeth as she's only has more than 200 million to bid. She furious but sighs as she's the one who has the idea to do a complete make-over on that entire land. Now her dreams can no longer be achieve. Tears are welling up in her eyes but before they finally fall...
"250 million!" Josh's authoritative voice sounded in the entire hall. Everyone almost feel their jaws dropping on the ground. Marsh eyes almost popped out.
"Josh! what are you doing? don't you know what's 250 million mean?" She whispers to his ear.
"I know! you just have to trust me" He winks at her and cast a disdainful glance at Marsh and Cole.
'This bastard! F*ck! I only have 10 million more' As he is pondering whether he push the bid or not, Cole whispers to him.
"Mr. Marsh continue the bid. Let's combine our wealth. I'll transfer you hundred million" Cole smirks
He nodded and clears his throat. "Kid, you think you are wealthy now? I'll show who's the true wealthy here!"
"Enough of your blabbering, just bid" Josh said indiffirently.
"300 million!" Marsh proudly said
"Wow! the Douglas and Wade family are really rich"
"They don't even bat an eye when they spend money" The crowd praise them again boosting their arrogance. As they are still feeling the praise of the crowd, Josh bid again.
"350 million!"
Crowd went crazy after he placed his bid. "is this guy crazy?" even Cole can't understand what's happening.
"Is money growing on trees now?" some wealthy man said.
"This guy is an heir to some wealthy family" another wealthy bidder said.
"He's handsome, young, and rich" a middle-aged woman said.
Marsh was about to risk it all but the cool headed Cole stopped him. "Mr. Cole we will lose face if we let them have it!"
Cole look at him coldly, he instantly shut up as he feel Cole's aura. "Calm down Marsh, let them pay for it. we will get then for free."
"350 million! going once!"
"Going twice!"
"Sold!"
Josh walk to the stage again and pay for the land. He got the contract and went back to his seat. Josh also bid for the last item and got the construction contract.
"Is this what you called wealthy? Even beggars are wealthier than you two" He humiliates them for provoking his love one earlier.
Cole stands up "Who are you?"
"The one that even your ancestors can't afford to provoke" After saying that he takes Bonna's hand and left. Before they completely walk out the venue he waves at them the contracts which made Cole's and Marsh's face so red in anger. Bonna laughs as they are walking out. Her laugh was both happiness and relief.
"I can't believe you did that. I thought they will explode out of anger" she laughs. He looks at her pretty face while walking towards the parking lot. He laughs as well, 'this is what i want, to see you smile and laugh everyday'
"Bonna, here take this." Josh handed her the contract.
"but it's yours, you paid for it. Looks like you're wealthy now huh!" She teases him
"No, a-actually grandpa Robert handed me the money for today's auction."
"Really?" she has doubts
"It's true!"
"Why would grandpa spend hundred millions just for this auction? Our family is in crisis right now"
"You know grandpa Robert, he is smart and cunning too. Maybe he has more money that's why he has a lot of courage to fight the two great families."
"Well, You're right grandpa is so smart. I would have been surprised if he doesn't have any trump cards anymore" she smiles and believe what he said. She takes the two contracts..
"Thank you for defending me earlier." She smile sweetly at him.
"Are you a fairy?" Josh mesmerize by her beauty, his face blushed.
"what?"
"Oh! Nothing!"
Back at the venue
After Josh and Bonna left, the atmosphere became intense. 'the one even your ancestors can't afford to provoke' are echoing in everyone's minds. That was a blatant humiliation. Both Marsh and Cole are fuming with anger. Nobody wants to speak, afraid that they incur the wrath of the two great families.
Cole look at the door with bloodshot eyes..
"That brat! I will make him pay tenfold.."
