Chapter 47
Even though Ron was aware of Ivy's situation, he still engaged in small talk with her. Ivy hailed from the Langster Family, a Warlock family. The Langster family was quite small, rumored to possess the inheritance of an incomplete meditation technique. However, the family's dwindling Warlock bloodline and lack of an official Magus had diminished their status in the Magus World. Two hundred years ago, an unfortunate accident led to the loss of the incomplete meditation technique.
Warlocks had limitations rooted in their bloodlines, restricting them to meditation techniques that suited their individual bloodlines. Ordinary mind rune constructs of acolytes held no significance for them. Over time, the Langster family, which had produced no Magi, had declined.
Thanks to several generations of heads accepting orphaned acolytes for training, the family still retained at least one acolyte. However, all the family members, except Ivy, were killed in a recent war with the Yale family, who coveted the Langster family's inheritance. Ivy, the last surviving member of the Langster family, was in Ron's care. While Ron wasn't eager for revenge, he couldn't leave her to die either.
After Ivy's family, she was used to a life of luxury. However, her present circumstances of roughing it in the wilderness would hasten her maturation.
In the past, Ivy would have been treated as a princess by her family, but now she had to adapt to a life of hardship.
"I have an interest in your family's bloodline. I need your cooperation for some experiments. Do you understand?" Ron asked Ivy. Her hands quivered as she nodded in response.
"I adore intelligent and obedient children," Ron said, stroking Ivy's head. Though he didn't need her blood, it held value as a research material.
"Master," Ivy murmured in a small voice.
As night fell, Ron and his group camped in the wilderness. Three tents were set up: one for Ivy, one shared by Grenn and Dexter, and the third for Ron and Anna. A campfire roared, where a pot of broth, mushroom pieces, and beef jerky simmered. Skewered fish and sizzling meat filled the air with tantalizing scents.
Ivy, excited by the aroma of the food, sat nearby.
Later, Ivy turned her gaze toward Ron, who was meditating several meters away.
Ron's vision had taken on a greenish tint due to the changes he'd undergone.
As he observed Ivy's bloodline, he considered the research possibilities.
After dark, Ivy was taken to her tent, accompanied by Anna. Ron called Ivy back to his tent, where he needed a blood sample for his research.
"Why does it feel like I'm bullying a little girl?" Ron pondered, holding a large needle-like item in his hand.
He drew a blood sample from Ivy, and though she trembled, she endured without tears. Afterward, Ivy was returned to her tent, under Anna's watchful eye.
The next morning, Ron examined a pink liquid in a test tube. A blue light emitted from his eyes and fell on the test tube.
The A.I. Chip's response confirmed the presence of an ancient creature's bloodline in Ivy's blood. Unfortunately, the traces of the Pala Night Hawk bloodline had thinned to an absolute minimum and couldn't be purified further.
Ivy's blood carried a trace of an ancient bloodline, but the inheritance of the Pala Night Hawk bloodline had ended with her, making it nearly unusable for purification or further research.
Leylin didn't feel particularly disappointed because he had other plans. He thought of using Ivy's blood to strengthen his Fallen Star Pendant and, with the help of some Bloodline Crystals, create a powerful item.
Bloodline Crystals were rare, and using them to help Ivy reach only Acolyte level would be wasteful. Instead, he intended to enhance his weapon and strengthen his own abilities.
