Gen Yue was first named Wansui Mountain, later renamed to Gen Yue and Shou Yue, symbolizing the wish for many children and longevity.
Zhao Ji was a man who enjoyed life, very dissatisfied with the old imperial palace in Bianjing, and thus he expanded the palace and built the rear palace, establishing Huafu Palace.
However, just as having ivory chopsticks necessitates a matching ivory bowl, Zhao Ji also constructed Gen Yue for entertainment.
Gen Yue was magnificently scaled, and even more splendid than Huafu Palace.
Gen Yue was not far from Huafu Palace because the Emperor, being fond of his leisure, naturally did not wish to travel long distances.
When Shen Yue approached Gen Yue, the sun tilted towards the south, casting brilliant rays that made the distant greenery look washed anew, the grass beneath appeared like a painting, further animated by the chirping of birds, adding to the vibrant life.
