Chapter 97 - Sword Talent

"So, who's next?"

The Sword Sovereign seemed confident in his ability to overcome the abilities of the crew.

The danger level he possessed grew as he managed to overcome Theef with his sword.

"Who wants dibs?"

Null was confident himself, so he left it up to his companions to try first.

"I'll take a crack at it," Klein said brandishing his daggers.

"Oh. So, it seems like all your little crew members find themselves combat oriented."

"It's the little ones that have the biggest bite I'll have you know," Klein said as he walked up.

"You've also got a fair amount of bark. Just get ready to receive my sword."

Klein's eye twitched as he listened to the bravado of the Sword Sovereign; such a mouth on him it only made sense that he was so powerful to match.

Before they began, Klein focused on his beast core that was fully operational on its own to produce mofei.

It had quite the amount stored, so he was ready to manipulate to the best of his ability.

He started by manipulating an earthen shield and compacted it to the point of crystallization.

His daggers were prepared to receive the aftermath that would come after the shield was destroyed.

He was half expecting his daggers to break, but they did not matter too much to him in the long run.

He could make some better weapons with the help of his crew members.

And so, he sat fully focused on blocking the sword that was to come, "Bring it on!"

"As you wish."

The sword was already in motion before he even finished speaking.

The earth shield was quickly broken through, and Klein was left to face the rest of the swing with his daggers.

The collision was imminent, but in the brief moment between the shield's breaking and the impending collision, Klein utilized his saturated body to erupt with a sudden burst of power.

His lungs made his movement swifter.

His skin suffused with the light and dark to provide a dense defense

His heart full of a bursting flame powered his abilities.

His kidneys with purified water allowed for smooth motions and channeling.

Finally, his liver fortified by earth made it so his weakest parts were strengthened appropriately.

With the addition of his brain's increased functionality due to the mind mofei thoroughly suffusing within during times of duress, Klein was in peak state of mind.

His thoughts were speeding by as he analyzed every facet of the moving sword on his position.

The scene was literally slowed down in his view as he clashed with the destructive weapon.

Shing!

As the sword reached his daggers there was a struggle to determine the victor at first, but unfortunately for Klein his daggers were of inferior quality.

Crack!

As was determined by material structure the sword successfully reaped yet another of the crew's weapons and laid its body against the naked neck of the loser.

"I'm not one to dwell on the little things, but how do you expect to cross blades when you guys have inferior weapons."

"Who you calling inferior you cocksucker!"

Theef was not having it and neither was his Livelli as it screamed the same from within.

"Face it. Your skills may be sufficient to battle at a higher degree, but against my superior Livelli your trivial weapons are bound to crumble."

"Hmm...," Null took the statement personally as he realized there was some truth to the harshness.

"Hand me one of those," he pointed to a sword rack that was next to Z'oelo.

"You serious?"

"Mhmm."

"Suit yourself."

He passed a training sword made of basic metal to him.

"You said inferior weapons were futile in the face of your sword, but it's all up to tactics in the end."

While he was speaking, he eyed the sword in his opponents hands with an understanding to it.

Ego was witnessing everything he did from within his mind through methods similar to a Livelli, but it went a bit deeper than even such a connection.

It was not as if Null himself could not recognize things himself, but the additional viewpoint made all the difference to him.

Being attached to the cosmic structure allowed a viewpoint of pure omniscience.

The problem behind the invulnerable sword was immediately discovered.

And so, when Null took the training sword to match against the Sword Sovereign's Livelli there was no hesitation on his part.

'A futile attempt the same as the others. Ready for the next attack?'

The Sword Sovereign communicated with his Livelli and received a response.

'Such a waste of a decent sword.'

He thought as he moved his own sword.

They were not like Livelli which could naturally repair their form over time; the training swords were made by the smithing Shetavi of the community.

Just as his sword was coming into contact with the lackadaisically grasped sword in Null's hand a change occurred.

The sword in Null's hand changed its angle ever so slightly to the oncoming sword so that it could not strike head on.

Skree!

The sword scraped against the training sword and made a shrill sound as it was effortlessly swatted away with all of the force reduced to a slight swoosh.

All of the effort behind the Sword Sovereign's swings was batted away like a child's fruitless attempt.

"Oh shit! That's right motherfucker!" Theef was the first to cheer at the sight of victory.

"That's... I guess that counts," Klein surmised.

"Y-you...," the Sword Sovereign could only stutter.

"What happened to your confidence there mister," Null was still holding his sword at an angle.

'Such talent! There isn't even the slightest change in his stance.'

"There's no mistaking it. You have an unmistakable sword talent!"

The crew were also shocked at how Null effortlessly completed the challenge with a normal weapon no less.

"Since when do I have something like sword talent. Anyone could do the same if they grasped the secret behind your Livelli."

"Huh?" The crew were confused when he brought up something like a secret.

'What the-,' the Sword Sovereign gulped, 'How does he know about our secret?'

The Livelli was shocked as well to discover that its secret attribute was suddenly revealed to be discovered.

"What do you mean by secret Null," Theef again was the first to want to know what he meant.

"What his sword does is pinpoint the weakness of whatever is in the way to break it with its sturdy body."

The others looked at the ancient looking sword and shuddered at the fact that there was such an ability amongst the Shetavi.
