Chapter 7 - Ch. 7 - Help the farm

3rd POV

The next day, Ashura and Batsu spend the morning ashing out the details, deciding how they would provide protection, information, training and help in various domain. Ashura started by explaining his plans to improve the farm and its yield and how he could start taking over other farm and create a monopoly. And soon maybe expand in other economical domain. Batsu was a bit surprised by the ambition of the kid before him, but quickly remembered the discussion they had the night before and his goal. You couldn't make an almost dead clan the greatest before, without an healthy dose of ambition.

The plan was to first understand the land they would cultivate. So he made a Shadow clones and sent it in search of a geologist or a Library. Whatever came first.

Meanwhile they weren't idle either. No, Ashura used a little section of the farm to create a trapdoor that led inside a room underneath the building. Taking care of the foundation to prevent any cavement, Ashura made pillars and spaced them equally. Batsu, in the meantime, was trying a new method of selecting his fruits and vegetables. And how surprised were they when they saw how much yield there was when they tried the tri-years rotation. It helped with the rendment and coupled with the carefull selection of products that could thrive in winter and spring, it was a success. While not even three months in, they could already see the results.

On the other hand, the clone had found a Library and had pilfered it of any geological text found. Then he found a sweet spot somewhere and just read, read and read. When he dispelled, Ashura was explaining the steps to the first Chakra control exercices to Sashida and he just fell down to the floor, passed out as if he was a puppet with cut strings. Taken by surprise and fearfull after the events a couple months ago, she screamed for her mother and father while looking around in search of any danger. It took 5 hours for him to wake up with an monstruous headache.

After reflecting on the issue he created a new clone and decided to pop it every week without failure as it could lead to problem otherwise. He would create new ones as a new mission imposed itself on him. If he could use geology to his advantage here, why not pilfer knowledge from every library he found in the world, from any subjects ? From this day on, he spend every Sunday creating a new clones that would protect the Uzumaki familly and another who would go to the previous library and read everything he could, while he would meditate and review the memories of the clones.

With this newfound knowledge of geology, he could start making plans based on what he knew. First there were lot's of hot spring in this country, hence its name. Hot springs came into being when there was either current of water travelling around underneath the earth. This water warmed and when it found a spot where it could come to the surface, it would be usually hotter than the surface air, whence the hot spring name. Or it could be because of a magmatic system close to a bed of water. Knowing how there is a land nearby, by the name of Land of Fire that has the best yield of all nations, that almost 60% of the people there, that unlock their chakra have a fire affinity, I find this explanation far more plausible.

Now, why would it interest Ashura ? Because, if there is a magmatic system underneath the Land of Fire, that means that it touches the land of Hot Spring too, normally, blessing it with the same fertile soil. It would explain why the land have such good yield in only three months time. But he shouldn't be so fast. Nothing is proved and one of his biggest reservation is the lack of hot springs in the Land of Fire. It wouldn't make sense for there not to be any if there really was a magmatic system underneath the Fire Country.

Anyway, with the increase in yield and techniques used in the farm, money came flowing. Mikasa helped with everything inside the house, from cooking to cleaning, to searching the area for new plants and flowers, eager to help her husband increase his knowledge of everything plant-wise. Because, yes, in this time Batsu spend, carefully selecting products to plants, he had to first know them. He researched them first thanks to the knowledge Ashura gave him every monday, after reviewing the memories of his clones. Then discovered a real passion for the secrets of plants. He would experiment with them, planting them in winter then in springs, seeking any change. He would extract its juice, collect the fruit, try to pair one plant with another, trying to increase the size of the plants and its defense against the environment and the insects.

Mikasa spend her remaining time practising her chakra control and Fuinjutsu. She also was quite talented in the area, not as good as me but she could become an Fuinjutsu Expert by her 50th anniversary if she continued working on it every day. Yes it was a long time from now as she wasn't even 25 yet, but do not forget that Uzumaki were known for their longevity and strong life force. She would be able to live for at least 80 years without any outside interference. And the more chakra and expertise with said chakra she had, the longer she'd live.

Sashida had already mastered the first Chakra control exercice and was on her way to mastering the wall walking. She had unlocked her Adamantine Chains and had been hypnotised by them ever since. She couldn't spend the day without playing with them at least for one hour.

But it wasn't all they did, during these three months. Ashura spend so much time with the familly after a period of 2 years without any human contact that it got quickly tiring. But he persevered and finally they found a rythm. As they ate together on one fine morning, he realised that he had made a new familly. He started to contemplate on every interraction he had with them. The morning when Sashida came jumping on his bed to wake him up. How they would join the parents downstairs to eat their breakfast. How Mikasa helped them whenever they needed. How Batsu was here to offer help but let him breath and make his own decision. Always ready to give advices. Truly he had found a little corner of happiness in this wretched world. And the more he thought of this, the more he thoughts of all the Uzumaki orphans, the parents that lost their child to the fall of Uzushio, of every single one of them and how they must feel so sad, alone and in despair. Ashura felt blessed to have found an adoptive familly. He didn't want to be the only one.

With determination he tried to find new ways to spies and collect informations. He wanted to have a spy network equivalent or greater than Jiraya. He needed to be the first to find the remaining Uzumaki and make them come to him. Because if he had to come to them it would take too much time and would be too risky.

So he started implementing other plans he had for the farm and the people here.
