The man, handsome yet stern, donned a black trench coat with a cigarette perched between his fingertips, his brow furrowed in concern.
"Does Aria Lulu want to call off the engagement?"
"Probably." She wouldn't even stay at Rufus Swallow's villa anymore.
"Let her call it off," Maple Swallow said gravely. "She dares to shoot at the Swallow family. Does she think I, as her brother, am dead?"
Trenton Smith responded noncommittally, "You might be willing, but Rufus probably won't be."
Maple stopped walking and turned his head towards him. "Rufus won't call off the engagement?"
"Look at his expression; does he look like he's planning to call it off?" Trenton Smith escorted him to the door. "Don't worry about his issues. If Aria Lulu really wanted to kill him, she wouldn't have given him a half centimeter chance to live. She's just angry now. Let Rufus go and coax her. Why are you, an outsider, meddling?"
He appeared quite experienced in these matters.
