"Really, such a devoted couple, it makes this old man who's knocking on death's door quite envious," remarked Toni Armstrong as he leaned against the sofa's backrest, his eyes half-closed as he looked down on Keira Leaf.
"Yes, that's right, a devoted couple, something you'll never understand in this lifetime."
Keira Leaf stubbornly met his gaze, vividly remembering the times when he spoke of the past, how he had clearly missed his mother, clearly loved her. Yet, often, love was not as simple as one might imagine.
"How curious, very curious indeed." he mused softly. "So I wonder, what would happen if he were to lose you? Oh, no, I mean, at least I will leave your corpse for him. Let's see how many years he can stand to guard it. When you've become rotten, stinking, and moldy, will he continue to love you as always?" Toni Armstrong spoke softly, but with a chilling undertone.
