Chapter 140 - Magic Item & Weapons

3:18 p.m.

Temple of Priests Private Compound, Luxen City.

Vivian stepped inside the Blacksmith Shop and immediately headed to the counter where Sike and Grace were.

Their eyes widened when they saw the White Cloak draped over Vivian's body. Earlier this afternoon when she came, she was wearing a Brown Cloak, and now she was wearing a White Cloak.

"Sister, did you just get promoted?" Sike asked when Vivian got to them.

She nodded.

"Yes."

"Congratulations, sister!" Sike and Grace said.

"Thank you, brother, sister," Vivian said with a warm smile and then took out something from her pocket and placed it on top of the counter. "By the way, I want to use this coupon."

It was the Magic Item Coupon that she received from the Mission Room for getting promoted.

Sike picked it up.

"This is a Magic Item Coupon for a Mithril-Grade item that has one Magic Effect. What item do you have in mind?"

"Do you have a Magic Item that allows me to see in the dark?"

"Yes, the Magic Effect is called [Vision] and we have Active and Passive. What kind of item do you want? We have weapon, helmet, ring, earring, necklace, bracelet, and many more."

Vivian knitted her brows.

"Can you tell me which one is better?"

Before Sike could answer, someone butted in.

"Excuse me, Brother Sike," a White Cloak Priest in his mid-20s said.

Sike turned to him.

"Oh, Brother Chico."

"Sorry for bothering you, brother, but Brother Isaac is requesting for you at the Training Grounds' Gym. There was an issue with some of the bleachers for the upcoming Ranking Match and we couldn't figure out how to fix it."

Sike returned his gaze to Vivian.

"Sister Vivian, I'm very sorry. I hope you don't mind."

Vivian held out her hand.

"It's fine, brother, I understand."

"Thank you, sister," he said and then turned to Grace. "Sister, if you don't mind, can you take over?"

"Of course, brother," she said and then turned to Vivian. "Sister, please allow me to assist you."

"Sure," Vivian said with a forced smile.

Oh great…

A woman is going to teach me about things…

In Vivian's head, although she doesn't really like to play with the gender, race and other victim cards which was prevalent in her original world, even she could admit that there were some undeniable truths in them. And when it comes to equipment or anything that deals with hardware, she preferred to talk to a man because men tend to be more interested or knowledgeable in such things.

She watched Sike and Chico leave the shop.

"Sister Vivian?"

Vivian turned to her and smiled.

"Sister Grace."

"You're looking for a Mithril-Grade Magic Item that has a single Magic Effect, particularly the [Vision] Magic Effect, correct?"

"Yes."

"We have Active and Passive. And for the item, we have weapon, shield, helmet, ring, earring, necklace, bracelet, and others like armor types, such as breastplate, gauntlets and boots."

"What do you recommend?"

"What do I recommend? Well, it depends on the situation.

"If it's for normal everyday civilian setting, then I would recommend something that could easily blend with the surrounding, such as ring, bracelet or earring.

"Meanwhile, if you're going to use it like during the Holy Crusade, I suggest helmet, breastplate, gauntlets or boots."

"What about the Active or Passive?" Vivian asked.

"It still depends on the situation. But me personally, I prefer the Passive type. Although the only way to activate and deactivate it is to wear it and not wear it, at least you don't have to spend any mana to activate it and maintain it."

"I have a question. Does it cause the Magic Item to break every time you wear and not wear it?"

Grace nodded.

"Yes."

"Last question, a Mithril-Grade Magic Item with only one Magic Effect costs 50 gold coins if paid in cas-- coins. Meanwhile, it costs 60 gold coins if paid through a loan, right?"

Grace nodded again.

"That is correct."

"And the cost of a Mithril-Grade Elemental Weapon is the same, right?"

Grace nodded once more.

"Yes."

I really want the Active one…

Because I can use [Halo] with [Greater Origin Enchant] for unlimited mana…

However…

I can't go around walking with a golden portal on my back…

"I want an earring and then Passive."

"Please wait for a moment."

Grace pulled out a box underneath the counter and placed it on top.

There were eight earrings that sported different colors, designs and gems.

And just like Vivian's Earring of Spirit, although it was only a single earring, it comes with a pair but the other one doesn't have any Magic Effect.

"I want this."

The earring that Vivian pointed to had a silver-colored body with a tiny red gem and red runes just like her Earring of Spirit.

"Do you wish to try it on first?"

"No."

Grace nodded.

"Okay."

She picked up the earring and then placed it inside a tiny jewelry box. She was about to put it inside another box to seal it securely but Vivian stopped her.

"You don't have to do that. Just give me the earring."

"Okay, sister," she said as she handed over jewelry box.

Vivian placed it inside one of the pockets of her pants.

Grace returned the rest of the earrings underneath the counter, took the Magic Item Coupon and then started recording it.

"I also want to buy Elemental Weapons. Mithril-Grade."

"Elemental Weapons? Okay, what weapon and Element do you want?"

"What elements do you have here?"

"We have Light, Dark, Fire, Poison, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Ice and Soul."

"Are those the only Elements? Like, are there other secret Elements?"

"Not counting Chaos and Lesser Chaos, out of all the elements I've mentioned, Soul is considered the rarest element and it's highly valued by fighters."

"Soul? Why?"

"Soul absorbs mana and transfers it to the caster. Or in a Soul Elemental Weapon's case, the wielder. On top of that, it's quite effective against demons because it shortens the amount of times they can use their healing spells. But of course, it's a different story if they mastered the [Soul Mastery]."

Vivian's brows knitted together.

"I see."

"So what type of weapon do you want to buy?"

"Do you have something small like a dagger or something? Anything that's easy to carry or at least doesn't take up that much space."

"Smaller than a dagger and easy to carry or doesn't take up that much space…?" Grace said as she thought about it for a moment. "Oh, I got it!"

She left the counter and then brought back a box that had a set of small weapons on it.

"This is called a finger claw or ring claw, depending on who you ask."

Vivian leaned forward and examined the items.

Finger claw…

Or ring claw…

It was basically a ring with a long metallic claw attached to it and there were Runes written around the ring. As for why other people call it finger claw instead of ring claw, that was due to the design. Some had designs that covered the entire finger.

Vivian returned her gaze to Grace.

"There are Active and Passive Elemental Weapons, right?"

Grace nodded.

"Yes, these are the Active types."

"I want to buy this Elemental Weapon, it should be active, and I want a Dark, an Earth, an Ice and a Soul."

"You want to buy an Elemental Weapon with Dark, Earth, Ice and Soul? Or did you mean a Dark Elemental Weapon, an Earth Elemental Weapon, an Ice Elemental Weapon and a Soul Elemental Weapon?"

"The latter."

Grace nodded.

"Okay. Please let me measure your finger size. If there isn't a size available to you, we will need to send them to the Temple of Blacksmiths and you will have to wait at least 5 days."

"I don't really care which finger I will wear it on. As long as I can wear it, it's fine. But if nothing fits, I don't mind buying daggers instead."

Grace nodded once more.

"Okay, sister. Please wait for a moment."

She picked up some sample rings from underneath the counter and placed them on top.

"Please choose a ring size that you want."

Vivian removed the glove on her right hand, revealing an abnormally pale right hand with visible veins and blue-colored fingernails.

Grace was shocked for a moment but didn't say anything.

Now that I think about it…

I think I also need to buy nail polish...

Vivian picked up one of the ring samples, slid it on her pointing finger, and then made a close and open motion.

Looks cute…

But I don't like it because I can't wear gloves…

She removed the ring and then tried another one.

"I want this size," she said before removing it and putting it down.

"Okay. Please give me a moment to gather them."

"Hold on. I'm going to buy it with a loan. So that's 240 gold coins, right?"

I'm now a White Cloak so the credit I can loan is up to 1,000 gold coins…

"Yes."

"By the way, do you also have boots that can't be affected by Physical Arts, like if I use [Power Leg]?"

Grace blinked a couple of times before answering.

"We don't have boots that can't be affected by the skills of [Leg Mastery]. However, we have sturdier boots that could last longer while you're running, jumping, kicking, etc."

"Are they at least leather?"

"Yes, we have normal boots, high-boots, riding boots and thigh-boots. We also have the ones with heels."

Hmm…

It would be nice to be a little taller…

However…

Wouldn't it be harder to run around with it in the forest…?

But it would look cool…

Also, I'll be taller…

"Do they come with Magic Effects?"

"Only the ones that are mostly made out of metal."

"How much are the leather boots, specifically the riding boots?"

"The cheapest is 5 silver coins and it's as sturdy as Iron.

"The second cheapest is 1 gold coin and it's as sturdy as Silver.

"The third 10 gold coins and it's as sturdy as Mithril.

"The fourth one is 50 gold coins. The leather is as sturdy as Mithril but it's coated

with Orichalcum metal.

"And the most expensive is 500 gold coins. The leather is still as sturdy as Mithril but it's coated with Adamantite metal."

Hmm…

Looks like my only choice is the third one…

It's not too cheap but it's also not too expensive…

"Last question: Is it smart to use heeled boots when running on uneven terrain like a forest?"

"Running on uneven terrain? Personally, I don't like wearing heels so I don't think I'm the right person to ask that. But from the Sisters that I know who prefer to wear heeled footwear when fighting, they say that 1 inch is perfectly fine. For 2 inches, some say it's fine, others say it's not -- it depends on who you ask. However, for 3 inches and above, I've never met anyone who recommended wearing that size."

Vivian nodded.

"I see, thanks. I want a pair of 2-inch riding boots worth 10 gold coins. I'm also going to buy it through a loan."

"That would be 12 gold coins."
