In a lush, peaceful place filled with birds of all kinds, their songs echoed softly through the air. The melodies were so calming that anyone would feel at peace just hearing them. In the middle of this paradise, a boy who looked around eighteen slept quietly.
His black hair was long at the back, tied just below the shoulders with a white cloth, while the front remained neatly trimmed. He wore a white T-shirt beneath a long white trench coat, outlined with golden and red patterns. His pants were loose, white gi-style trousers—baggy yet tapered at the ankles—crafted for movement and tied at the waist with a flowing red sash.
Not long after, the boy began to stir.
"Ah... my head... it hurts."
He sat up slowly, blinking at his surroundings. "What is this place? Where am I?"
Still gripping his head, he tried to remember how he got there. But as the pain slowly faded, unfamiliar memories began to surface.
"What... are these memories?"
Suddenly, a strange creature appeared in front of him. It had a large head and small arms, almost like a robot.
"Welcome back, Master," it said.
Startled, the boy instinctively raised his right hand. A ball of energy formed in his palm and fired. The creature barely dodged the blast.
The boy stared at his own hand in shock.
"What?!"
After some time, the creature introduced itself as Lumos and explained everything to the boy, whose name was Nexus.
"So you're saying... I used to be your master," Nexus said slowly. "And because my core was split and I didn't have enough energy, I 'died'. My core was lost. But before that happened, I set a backup plan in motion... and that led to split cores becoming one again, which led to this?"
[A/N: As The Law Maker is not finished, then let me briefly explain— What is Core? Here, core means the core of one's existence. One might think Soul is the core. But no. It is just a product from the core. Without the body, the soul won't exist. Without the soul, the consciousness won't exist. And without the core, the consciousness won't exist. One's existence won't exist.]
Lumos nodded. "That is correct, Master."
Pieces began to fall into place. Nexus remembered how he had always felt something was off his whole life—like something was missing. He never had parents, and even the orphanage didn't know who had left him. The CCTV footage showed nothing—he just appeared out of nowhere.
Then one day, while sitting near a river, a blinding light fell from the sky. It hit him before he could react. And now, here he was… waking up in this strange world, having slept for who knows how long. Lumos had filled in the gaps.
After some time, Nexus then asked, "And I made you the guardian of this multiverse, which I created?"
[A/N: Since The Law Maker is still ongoing, let me briefly explain—What is the Multiverse? Beyond the multiverse lies the realm known as Infinity, an endless ocean of True Primal Energy. From Infinity, a multiverse is born: first forming a core dimension, and then branching outward into countless dimensions.Within a multiverse, many dimensions exist. Some dimensions are exclusively tied to a special dimension called a universe. A multiverse contains multiple such universes.]
"Yes, Master," Lumos replied.
For a moment, Nexus said nothing.
'Created a multiverse...?'
The thought echoed in his mind, unreal and yet strangely fitting. He should have been overwhelmed, terrified even. But no surge of panic came. Instead, a strange calmness rooted itself deep inside him.
'It's absurd,' he thought. And yet... it feels right.
He looked down at his hands—at the faint traces of energy pulsing through his skin, shimmering almost invisibly.
'I should be panicking... shouldn't I?'
He remembered every moment of his life feeling incomplete, like chasing something he could never name. An invisible itch beneath his skin, a hollow weight in his chest. But now, that feeling was simply... gone.
'Now that I think about it,' Nexus realized, 'I no longer feel like something is missing. I feel... whole again.'
The sensation was fleeting, but it was there. And that was enough.
Nexus snapped out of his moment of reflection and turned his attention back to Lumos. There was still one burning question.
"But you said you're a parasitic being," he said, voice steady but inquisitive. "Your kind finds hosts, shows them the way to power, gives them items... in return, you take 10% of their energy. And without a host, you can't survive for long. So how are you still alive?"
"It's because of you," Lumos said. "I don't need a host as long as I stay inside this multiverse. You made me its administrator. I draw my energy from it—and it holds pseudo-unlimited energy. But Master... do you really not remember anything?"
"I remember something... but it's in fragments," Nexus replied. "Like, for example, my Ki... It's not ordinary Ki. It's something called Primal Ki. Before, I didn't even know what Ki was, but now I seemed to have the ability to manipulate it. And I also seemed to have memories being called The Law Maker and some other stuff. But that's not what I am curious about. Tell me this 'pseudo-unlimited energy'—what is it?"
"Each multiverse has a fixed energy level," Lumos explained. "When you use some of that energy, it refills itself instantly. No matter how much you use or add, the total amount never changes. It won't go up. It won't go down. And this is knows as having pseudo-unlimited energy."
As Lumos finished explaining, Nexus sat in silence. The familiar sense of emptiness had vanished—but in its place was something deeper: uncertainty. His memories were still a scattered haze, returning only in fragments, mostly about his power. And yet, even with all this knowledge, he had never felt more lost.
Then Lumos asked, "What will you do now, Master?"
"I don't know," Nexus said quietly. "I feel lost."
"Then why not do what you always wanted to do?" Lumos suggested.
"I wanted to make fun games," Nexus muttered, after a long pause, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "But... that doesn't seem possible now."
"It is possible," Lumos said. "Before your 'death', you built many things. Among them there exists a device that can let you do things no one could ever imagine. You left me in charge of it. So, I know how to use it properly. Using it, I can make your games playable across multiple multiverses. Make it so real, so deep… people will question if it's even a game. They'll feel like they're actually inside it—but without the fear of death."
Nexus blinked, stunned. "It's possible?"
Then, his eyes lit up. "If that's true… then yeah, that sounds fun. A great way to pass the time. Who knows? Maybe I'll regain the rest of my memories along with my purpose while doing it."
